MOT Opens 'Giovanni' History's most notorious rake takes center stage with Michigan Opera Theatre's production of Don Giovanni, 8 p.m. April 21 with additional performances on April 25 and 28. In the title role, bass- baritone Richard Cowan returns to the MOT stage. The settings and costumes are the creation of English ar- tist John Pascoe. Don Giovanni will be under the baton of Klaus Donath, who makes his American con- ducting debut with this pro- duction. MOT's Don Giovan- ni launches the 1990 annual Spring Grand Opera Season at the Masonic Temple, which includes Verdi's La Traviata, May 5-12, and Gounod's Romeo et Juliette, May 19-26.
