Mardi Gras
Continued from preceding page
station has Cajun-spiced rib
eye of beef.
While the Red Garter Band
plays Bourbon Street tunes
made famous by Al Hirt and
Pete Fountain, folks can enjoy
drinks like Ramos gin fizz
and Sazerac (bourbon with
Peychaud bitters).
The service staff is costum-
ed and guests may dress in
Mardi Gras garb . . . Prizes
are given for top costumes
with souvenir Mardi Gras
coins given to guests.
BESIDES BEING chang-
ed to Sheraton-Southfield,
now on the roster of franchise
hotels by Sheraton Corp. of
Boston, former Michigan Inn,
J.L. Hudson Drive, also
received a $4.5 million total
renovation.
The hotel is property of
Equitable Real Estate Invest-
ment Management . . . Tom
Wilson is general manager.
THURSDAY evenings in
Detroit has a number of live
entertainment spots . . . Rock
and roll at Alvin's, blues at
Scully's, jazz at the
Rhinoceros, Detroit Sym-
phony at Orchestra Hall .. .
now there is opera t the
Gnome on Woodward.
Sounds strange . . . opera in
a quaint Middle Eastern
restaurant, but it's there
every Thursday night 7 p.m.
to 10 p.m. . . . Plus regular
opera, stars Kaye Rittinger,
soprano, and David Reynolds,
tenor, tap into the nostalgia of
popular Broadway opera .. .
Her "West Side Story" and
"Tonight, Tonight" are stan-
douts . . . He sings old Nelson
Eddy and Cole Porter songs
like "I Get A Kick Out Of
You" and "Just One Of Those
Things."
Both are accompanied on
the piano by Bernie Katz.
A LIST OF ingredients
coupled with "Consciousness
and Care-Harmony!!!" .. .
This is the label on bottom of
those delicious blueberry
muffins packages by Motor
City Muffin Company owned
by Joyce Rubin and Susan
Bonin.
The company has grown
leaps and bounds and is a big
favorite with health-conscious
folks because they don't have
to sacrifice quality and good
taste.
The Motor City blueberry
muffin ingredients are . . .
whole wheat flour, oat bran,
blueberries, brown sugar,
honey, soybean oil, baking
powder and soda and
cinnamon.
If you'll notice, no eggs .. .
yet moist, firm and very tas-
ty . . . an end to the fallacy
that eggs are needed to main-
tain these qualities.
Sounds so good, I think I'll
have one.
