speak on "Marc Chagall and
the Jewish School of Paris."
Refreshments will be serv-

Detroit NCJW
Wins Award

The National Council of
Jewish Women, Greater
Detroit Section, received the
first Volunteer Project Award
given by the Junior League of
Birmingham. NCJW was
selected out of more than 40
community organizations.
The award was given to the
section for its Court Ap-
pointed Special Advocacy
Legal Guardianship Pro-
gram, established three years
ago under the auspices of the
Oakland County Probate
Court. Nearly 100 NCJW
women have been trained to
investigate legal guardian-
ship cases and advocate on
behalf of youngsters in the
judicial system.
CASA is sponsored by the
section's public affairs depart-
ment headed by Vice Presi-
dent Penny Blumenstein.
CASA chairmen during the
last three years have been
Marilyn Levine, Diane
Brooks and Janet Feinberg.

Choral Group
To Perform

The Choral Group of the
Music Study Club of Metropo-
litan Detroit will perform for
the senior citizen residents in
nursing homes and senior
facilities throughout
December, including a 1 p.m.
concert Monday at the Senior

Rabbi Sherman Kirshner,
spiritual leader of Congrega-
tion B'nai Israel, will speak
to the Hanita Chapter of
Na'amat/USA at 12:30 p.m.
on Tuesday in the meeting
room of Na'amat, 25900
Greenfield, Suite 205E, Oak
Park. Hostesses are Esther
Klein and Fayge Berke.
Refreshments will be served.
Guests are welcome. Admis-
sion is free.

Chapter Has
Fund-Raiser

The Avodah Chai Brandeis
Chapter, Na'amat U.S.A., will
hold its annual dollars for
David Chanukah luncheon on

Monday at noon, at the
Whitehall Apartment club
house.
Guest speaker will be Lin-
da Shafir, attorney and a col-
onel in the Israeli army. Her
topic will be "The Legal
Rights of Women in Israel."

B'rith Women will hold a
meeting and luncheon at
noon on Wednesday at the
Sutton Place club house.
The guest speaker will be
Laura Smith, assistant direc-
tor of the Anti-Defamation
League of B'nai B'rith. There
will be games and prizes.

Women Focus Or Stress

Congregation Beth Shalom
Sisterhood will present a
"Sterling Sisterhood Series"
at 8 p.m. Jan. 12, Feb. 9 and
March 9 at the synagogue.
The series will focus on
combatting stress and will
feature lectures on watching
cholesterol, cooking, image,
hair-styling and cosmetics,
battling stress and staying
healthy.
The Jan. 12 program will

feature registered dietician
Gail Posner who will speak on
"Cholesterol Countdown:
Your Diet and You," and home
economist/cooking teacher
Debbie Goldenberg, whose
topic will be "Incredible
Edibles — And Other Cook-
ing Tricks for Success."
Judy Ivey, image consul-
tant, will speak on Feb. 9 on
"Building A New Spring War-
drobe With a Look of Perfec-
