NCJW Offers
Health Series
The National Council of
Jewish Women, Greater
Detroit Section, will offer a
four-part health series enti-
tled "'raking Charge of Your
Life," at the NCJW offices,
30233 Southfield Rd., South-
field. The series begins with
a program on "Recognizing
and Coping with Stress" on
Wednesday.
Carolyn Kimbrough, coor-
dinator of the employee
health program at Sinai
Hospital, will speak at 10
a.m., preceded by coffee at
9:30. There is a fee, and non-
members are welcome.
Subsequent programs will
examine eating disorders and
nutrition at 11 a.m. on Jan.
10; drug and substance abuse
at 10 a.m. on Feb. 8, and
breast cancer at 10 a.m.
Mar. 8.
The events have been
organized by the section's
membership and program
department headed by Vice
President Sally Green.
Geraldine Pasternak is chair-
man of the health series, and
Roberta Grosinger is vice
chairman. Bobbie Blitz,
Elaine Koshar, Lenora Noler
and Phyllis Young will assist
with arrangements.

Eating Disorder
Program Set
A three-stage eating
disorders program, developed
by psychotherapist Jac-
queline Odom will be offered
in January at the Eastwood
Clinic in Troy. The program is
designed to help pinpoint
reasons for overeating and
provides new skills to help
women gain control and
develop a healthy attitude
toward food.
The program is aimed at
bulimics, people who binge
and purge or resort to ex-
treme measures of diet and
exercise, and at compulsive
overeaters.

Sisterhoods
To Meet
The sisterhoods of Adat
Shalom Synagogue and Con-
gregation Shaarey Zedek will
co-sponsor a dinner-meeting
on Dec 12 at 6:15 p.m. at
Shaarey Zedek.
The event will feature a
panel discussion on "The Suc-
cessful Combining of Personal
and Professional Lives."
Representing Mat Shalom on
the panel are Ellen Betel,
Elaine Serling and Renee
Wohl. Shaarey Zedek's
sisterhood panelists include:
Judge Hilda Gage, Bunny
Goldman and Zena Kramer.
The evenkng is co-chaired by
Trudy Weiss of Adat Shalom
and Faye Ellman of Shaarey
Zedek.
The dinner and program

Detroiters Go
To Na'amat
Detroit will be represented
at the Na'amat USA national
board meeting Dec. 10-12 in
New York.
Delegates are: Bessie Ber-
ris, Midwest area, pro-
gram/education; Frieda
Leemon, advisory board; and
Ruth Miller annuities
chairman.
Dreidel House
Opens At Mall
Crosswinds Mall in West
Bloomfield will be the loca-
tion of a "Dreidel House"
Chanukah fun-booth for
children.
The "Dreidel House" will
be at the mall from Sunday to
Dec. 11. Weekday hours are
3 Rm.-5 p.m., excluding Fri-
day and Saturday when it
will be closed. Sunday hours
are noon-5 p.m. Shaped
like a Chanukah-dreidel,
the brightly-colored booth
will display the history of
the Chanukah holiday. Each
young visitor will receive a
Chanukah gift-pak, contain-
ing a dreidel, Chanukah-gelt
(money), treats, and holiday
brochures.
The children will also be
able to play Chanukah games
and make their own
Chanukah decorations at an
arts and crafts booth. They
will also be treated to a
25-minute video of a puppet
show presenting "The
Miracle of Chanukah."
On Sunday, "Chaunkah
Dreidlerama" will begin at
2 p.m. Bananas The Clown
will entertain and live
Chanukah music will be pro-
vided by Lenny Zimberg. Ad-
mission is free.
Dreidel House is one of the
many Chanukah projects
sponsred and run by the
Lubavitch Women's Organi-
zation, "N'shei Chabad," of
Michigan.
