plot about what might have

a pair of young men like
himself and the two girls they
dated.
"(Follies) remembers what
it was like, their performing
and their lives in general but
it's not maudlin, it keeps the
characters alive," explains
Benyas who plays Heidi
Schiller, a retired opera star.
"What's interesting about
what Sondheim does is that
each character has his own
music, almost a leitmotif like
Puccini, each in a different
style like the character itself.
My part," Benyas explains,
"is very lyric. The music
describes the characters. It
exemplifies the type of
character and is extremely
clever.
"The role of Heidi has
always been performed by
great opera singers and it's
exciting to be doing this kind
