THE ZIONIST ORGANIZATION OF AMERICA

METROPOLITAN DETROIT DISTRICT

PRESENTS

Republican Federation and
national chairman of
Byelorussians for Bush.
Bellant recalls
Melianovich, in a 1985 inter-
view in Washington, D.C, say-
ing that the Democratic Par-
ty is "doing the dirty work of
communism." He cited the
OSI as an example.
Melianovich, Bellant said,
told him that his ability to
reach policy makers within
the U.S. Administration is
enhanced by his affiliation
with the Republican Heritage
Groups Council.
Nazarenko, a close friend of
Council founding chairman
Laszlo Pasztor, was active in
Richard Nixon's two cam-
paigns for president and serv-
ed as a delegate to the
Republican Heritage Groups
Council convention in May
1985, where President
Reagan spoke.
In an interview with
Bellant, Nazarenko said he
maintained contact with
several Nazi organizations.
"They respect me because (I
was a) former German officer.
Sometimes when I meet these
guys, they say, 'Heil Hitler! "
Bellant writes in his report
that Nazarenko told him that
"Jews didn't die from gas
chambers. Those mountains
of bones are from people who
starved to death or died from
disease?'
and
Melianovich
Nazarenko were active in the
NCAEG, Bellant says.
Stella said he is offended by
comments which belittle
Jewish suffering in the
Holocaust. Recalling a former
employee who bore on his arm
his number from a death
camp, he said, "It was so hard
for him even to say what hap-
pened (in the war)."
Stella agrees with in-
dustrialist Max Fisher that
the Republicans are not the
only ones who should be con-
cerned about some of their
supporters.
Fisher last week said the
Democratic Party is marred
by "anti-Semitic poison," in-
cluding two supporters of Na-
tion of Islam leader Louis
Farrakhan and one who
backs the Palestine Libera-
tion Organization. All three
are members of the
Democratic National
Committee.
"It's not that Dukakis or
Bush wants anyone anti-
Semitic working for them," he
said. "But anybody who
wants to support a candidate
doesn't have to fill out an ap-
plication, and if they (anti-
Semites) do infiltrate the par-
ty, you don't know until
somebody does some
background checking?'
