"Shooting Pains:'
What Are They?

If you're a victim of sciatica, you know
what "shooting pains" are all about. The
sometimes excruciating pain of sciatica
frequently affects the hip, thighs, and
back of the leg. The ankle and foot are
sometimes affected, too. But that's not
where the problem is.
The sciatic nerve, the largest nerve in
the
body, extends from the lower spine

to the back of the thigh and knee. Then
it divides. One nerve goes down the front of the lower
leg, the other goes down the back of the leg.
Britain Expels
Israeli Envoy
Jerualem (JTA) — Israel of-
ficially expressed regret over
the British expulsion of
Argye Regev, an alleged
agent of the Mossad, the
Israeli secret intelligence
agency. Britain last week
gave Regev one month to
leave Britain with his wife
and daughter. He had been on
the staff of the Israel Em-
bassy in London for four
years.
The British also ousted an
official of the Palestine
Liberation Organization,
Zaki al-Hawa, a press officer
at the PLO's London office.
The British press reported
that Regev and Barad were
operating an Arab double
agent, Ismail Sawan, 28, who
was involved in storing arms
for a PLO terrorist, Abdul
Rahmim Mustapha.
Sawan was sentenced to 11
years in prison recently for
possession of hand grenades
and assault rifles. Mustapha
is suspected of arranging the
murder last year of Ali al-
Adhami, a Palestinian car-
toonist living in London.

It's the inflammation of the sciatic nerve that causes
the pain. This can be triggered by an irritated nerve root.
What causes the irritation? The cause may be traced to
a misalignment of the spinal column that's putting abnor-
mal pressure on the roots of the sciatic nerves as they pass
between the vertebrae.
