. . . The taste sensation at
supermarkets is Mendel's
Hamish Brand . . . fully cook-
ed, ready to eat.
Larry Warsh, owner of
Raskin Foods, discovered the
product at recent food show
and is the local distributor for
this kosher treat . . . Union of
Orthodox Jewish Congrega-
tions of America letter says,
"This is to certify that

duct label. These products are
processed from pollack fish!"
Here's a seafood pasta salad
recipe . . . 12 oz. Mendel's
Shrimp or Crab, 3 tbsp. lemon
juice, 1/2 cup oil, 3 tbSp. chop-
ped parsley, 1 tbsp. thyme, 1
tbsp. minced or pressed garlic,
1 lb. cooked pasta, drained,
rinsed and chilled . . . Thaw
Mandel's Shrimp or Crab in
refrigerator for approximate-
ly three hours. Mix above in-
gredients together in a large
salad bowl. Add thawed
Mendel's. For a more festive
salad add your favorite fresh
vegetables. Serve chilled.
Serves four.
Or how about a seafood
cocktail . . . 12 oz. Mendel's
It's Not Shirmp of Crab
(thawed), 1 cup ketchup, 1
tbsp white horseradish, let-
tuce leaves, 1 lemon cut into
wedges . . . Thaw Mendel's
Shrimp or Crab in
refrigerator for approximate-
ly three hours. In small bowl,
combine ketchup and white
horseradish. Arrange the let-
tuce on small salad plates.
Spoon the cocktail sauce into
the middle of the plate and
place the chilled shrimp or
crab around the sauce. Serve
chilled, garnished with lemon
wedges. Serves four.

Or seafood Marinara sauce
. . . 12 oz. Mendel's Shrimp or
Crab or Lobster (thawed, 2
tbsp. cooking oil, 2 cloves
garlic, minced or pressed, 14
oz. can crushed tomatoes, 1
tsp. oregano, cooked rice or
pasta . . . Thaw Mendel's
Shrimp or Crab or Lobster in
refrigerator for approximate-

ly three hours. Heat oil in
heavy skillet. Add garlic and
sauce for one minute. Add
tomatoes and oregano. Sim-
mer for five minutes. Add
Mendel's and let simmer for
another two minutes. Serve
over hot cooked rice or pasta
of your choice. Serves four.
MARK LARCO or Larco's
on Evergreen and 12 Mile,
takes offense at recent guest
article by "Mystery Mun-
cher" . . . He says antipasto is
served with all meals and the
$5 one referred to is an
altogether separate item .. .
also, says Mark, "We certain-
ly do have veal parmesan on
our menu as my dad did on
McNichols. Obviously the
`Mystery Muncher' has never
seen our menu."
CHEF MICHAEL Jacobi
of the Blue Sky Bar-B-Q on W.
Ten Mile Rd. east of
Evergreen, now prepares dai-
ly specials that are based on
traditional recipes of the
southwest United States .. .
Foods like mesquite-grilled
trout, quail and Cornish hens
have quickly become favorites
for diners desiring alter-
natives to the restaurant's
standard fare of ribs, chicken
and shrimp.
The mesquite-grilled quail
is glazed in a fresh berry
sauce and served with rice
pilaf and a fresh California
medley of cauliflower, brocolli
and carrots . . . The very
popular, homemade corn-
bread muffins are still includ-
ed with all entrees.
Jacobi, former chef of Rig-
goleto's Italian Restaurant in
Plymouth and Marriott Hotel
at Metro Airport, has also
added mesquite-grilled lamb
chops to the regular menu .. .
marinated in rosemary, olive
oil and lemon to enhance the
mesquite flavor.
Recent visit there was quite
a surprise . . . Fine waitress
Lorraine Perry brought me a
delicious piece of mesquite-
grilled Black Tipped Shark
that was as tasty as it was
tender . . . Other specials in-
cluded poached Norwegian
salmon, Boston scrod, fet-
tucini bucaniera, veal a la
Frangelico, chicken chasseui-,
etc.
Homemade soups of the day
were . . . Clam chowder,
French onion and split pea
. . . Day previous were
minestrone, clam chowder
and French onion.
HOTTEST PLACE in
town is still Joey's On Jeffer-
son, corner Van Dyke . . .
catering to folks from all
walks of life . . . with ex-
cellent food and service .. .
