Birmingham Temple.

To Appear In Concert

The Lafayette String
Quartet, quartet in residence
at Oakland University, will
perform for the Birmingham
Temple's Vivace series on
Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the
temple. The quartet will per-
form: Haydn, op. 33, No. 2;
Barker, op. 11; Puccini
Cristanemi; Mendelssohn, op.
44, No. 2.
Once members of the
Detroit Renaissance City
Players, the musicians have
performed in most major con-
cert series in Detroit while
serving on the faculties of

Oakland University and the
Institute for Music and Dance
in Detroit.
They received Special Merit
at the 1987 Cleveland
Quartet Competition at the
Eastman School in Rochester,
N.Y. Abroad they reached the
semi-finals at the Paolo Bor-
cini International Quartet
Competitin in Italy this past
summer.

Comedian To Entertain
At Bond Dinner At Tam

Entertainer Joey Russell
will appear at the Tam-0-
Shanter Tribute Dinner for
Israel Bonds, honoring
William Serman, to be held
at 7 p.m. Nov. 14 in the coun-
try club, it was announced by
D. Dan Kahn, dinner
chairman.
Known for his rapid wit,
Russell has performed in ma-
jor night clubs and hotels
throughout the country, in-
cluding the Copacabana, Con-
cord Hotel, Grossinger's and
Harrah's in Reno. A dais
guest at the famous Friar
Roasts, he has been featured
with Victor Borge, Alan King
and David Frost as well as
many other top show-business
names.
Recently returned from one
of his many trips to Israel,
Russell will give a first-hand
account of this visit and the
progress being made with the _
proceeds from the sale of

Joey Russell

Israel Bonds.
Son of an Orthodox rabbi,
the comedian is a founding
