Student Wins
Space Award

Ezra S. Wanetik, of Lathrup
Village, received "The Right
Stuff" award at a recently
completed session of United
States Space Camp in Hunt-
sville, Ala. The award is given
to the two cadets in each ses-
sion who show the greatest
desire and promise for learn-
ing in the areas of
mathematics and science.
Ezra is entering the sixth
grade at Hillel Day School.
Space Camp is operated in
conjunction with the
Alabama Space and Rocket
Center, and allows cadets
from around the world the op-
portunity to participate in
space education, engage in
simulated space missions,
undergo realistic astronaut
training, and meet and learn
from astronauts.

Temple Youth
Go To New York

The Temple Beth El 1988
confirmation class will make
its annual pilgrimage to New
York Sept. 18-20. Rabbi Dan-
nel Schwartz will lead the
group.
The weekend will include: a
Friday night service at the
Stephen Wise Free
Synagogue, followed by a
special Rosh Hashanah Oneg
Shabbat, a visit to the
U.A.H.C. for lunch, a tour of
Thmple Emanuel of New York
City, brunch at Rattner's and
a visit to the Jewish Museum.

Youth Minyan
For B'nei Akiva

Beginning Saturday, B'nei
Akiva will hold a weekly
Shabbat youth minyan at
Young Israel of Greenfield.
Every Shabbat, children who
are pre-bar mitzvah will be
invited to services specially
geared to their age group.
On Sunday, children _ in
grades two-six are invited to
B'nei Akiva Sunday Fun
Groups, "SNIFONE," that
will take place at the Young
Israel Of Southfield. The
groups run from 3:30-5 p.m.
and will include activities
such as sports, arts and crafts,
drama, holiday fun and
special field trips.
Members of Chevreyah Bet
(high school) are invited to
the final Tigers' game vs.
Toronto on Oct. 4. There is a
charge for tickets, and all
reservations must be made in
advance. For information
about these and other B'nei
Akiva activities, call Benny
and Annette Appel, 967-3742.
