Cheryl Guyer has been
named chairman of the for-
thcoming fund-raising event
of the Jewish Association for
Retarded Citizens, "The
Great Gershwin Concert."
To be held on Nov. 18 at
Ford Auditorium, the concert
will feature Mel rIbrme, Leslie
Uggams, Peter Nero and the
Festival Concert Orchestra.
Written and orchestrated by
Torme, the event marks the
50th anniversary of Ger-
shwin's death.
Mrs. Guyer has announced
that more than 150
volunteers are expected at a
rally on Sept. 13 at United
Hebrew Schools to prepare
the mailing for the major
JARC event.
Mrs. Guyer also chaired
JARC's 1986 event featuring
Itzhak Perlman in solo
recital, and currently serves
as vice president of the JARC
board of directors.
In addition, she is a board
member of the Women's Divi-
sion of Jewish Welfare
Federation and is in charge of
cash collection for the
Women's Division campaign.
She serves as a board member
of Jewish Federation Apart-
ments and the Jewish Com-
munity Center of
Metropolitan Detroit.

Genealogy
Group Meets

The Jewish Genealogical
Society of Michigan will meet
at 8 p.m. Thursday at Temple
Beth El.
The group collects family
historical/genealogical data.
It meets bi-monthly and in-
cludes field trips in its
agenda.
