Cheeks videotapes and
newspaper clippings dating
back five years adorned the
walls and photographers
strolled the floor, snapping
photos to commemorate what
was to become a reunion long
remembered. Seen shmoozing
in the crowd were media
mavens Lori Weiss, Kelly and
Company producer and
grownup daughter of Martin
and Sue Weiss of Modern
Bakery, Suzanne Shumacher,
producer of Speakout on the
arm of hubby Dr. Bryan
Shumacher and fashion
writer Chuck Bennett.
"Not a touch was forgotten
with makeup artists tucked
away in the renovated 1920s
vaudeville theater, discreetly
touching up makeup as
patrons left the dance floor.
"Just as you might have
thought the party was win-
ding down, a complimentary
continental breakfast was
spread out in the VIP Lounge
overlooking the still-bustling
dance floor. Bagels, lox, cream
cheese and coffee flowed like
champagne and as far as the
Isis crowd was concerned, the
party was just beginning.
With bagels in hand, another
surprise was to come as two
sets of Pine Knob pavillion
tickets were raffled off to un-
suspecting partygoers. While
this was a five-year reunion,
it was also a celebration of
Isis' recent affiliation with
Pine Knob as the 'exclusive
nightclub for the 1987 concert
series.'
"With over a thousand peo-
ple in attendance, there's no
doubt that Isis will have a
crowd gathering every Satur-
day night as it opens its doors
to the public during the Pine
Knob summer season. And
don't worry about getting
hungry, because not long
after the stroke of midnight a
complimentary continental
breakfast is served.
"It appears that Gary Fried
has a smashing success on his
hands. How can you doubt a
man that invites his parents,
Elaine and Larry Gannes, to
join him on the eve of his
celebration.
"The next bash at Isis is
marked for July 22 to follow
a performance at Pine Knob
by Mikhail Baryshnikov."
