They are appearing in com-

Guild, appears in a Sears
commercial promoting the
Fievel Mouskewitz toy. She
also has been in a McDonald's
commercial, on the Bill Cosby
Show and in a nationally-
televised Thanksgiving Day
parade. She also has modeled
clothing for several firms and
department stores. Courtney
won a Madonna look-alike con-
test, named for the rock star.
According to Mrs. Sonne, the
kids got their start when on a
visit to a local department
store they were asked if they
wanted to model. Their model-

and commercials.
While they are working,
they are tutored at the studios.
When they are not working,
they attend public school.
Courtney and Josh are the

THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS

The Israel Sinfoniette
Beersheva will make two ap-
pearances in the Detroit area
this week.
At 2 p.m. Sunday, the or-
chestra will appear at the
Windsor Jewish Community
Centre, 1641 Ouellette. There
is a fee, and tickets can be re-
served by calling the Centre,
(519) 973-1772.
Appearing with the or-
chestra will be Gil Shaham,
15-year-old violinist, who will
be the soloist in the Bruch vio-
lin concerto. Shaham made his
debut with the Jerusalem
Symphony six years ago. In
1982, he appeared with the Is-
rael Philharmonic Orchestra
conducted by Zubin Mehta at
Tel Aviv's Mann Auditorium.
A first prize winner of the
Claremont Competition in Is-
rael, he has recently given sev-
eral recitals in New York City
and has appeared with the
New York Philharmonic at
Avery Fisher Hall.
On Wednesday at 8 p.m., the
Israel Sinfonietta will appear
at the main Jewish Commu-
nity Center in West Bloom-
field.

Music director and chief
conductor of the Sinfonietta,
Mendi Rodan, is celebrating a
decade with the orchestra.
Rodan was the music director
of the Belgium National Or-
chestra in Brussels and head of
Jerusalem's Rubin Academy of
Music and Dance.
From 1963 to 1972, Rodan
was chief conductor of the
Jerusalem Symphony Or-
chestra and in 1965 founded
the Jerusalem Chamber Or-
chestra.
For tickets, call the Jewish
Center, 661-1000, ext. 341.
