Courtney won a Madonna look-alike con- test, named for the rock star. According to Mrs. Sonne, the kids got their start when on a visit to a local department store they were asked if they wanted to model. Their model- ing experience lead to TV roles and commercials. While they are working, they are tutored at the studios. When they are not working, they attend public school. Courtney and Josh are the children of former Detroiter David Sonne and his wife, Pam. At 2 p.m. Sunday, the or- chestra will appear at the Windsor Jewish Community Centre, 1641 Ouellette. There is a fee, and tickets can be re- served by calling the Centre, (519) 973-1772. Appearing with the or- chestra will be Gil Shaham, 15-year-old violinist, who will be the soloist in the Bruch vio- lin concerto. Shaham made his debut with the Jerusalem Symphony six years ago. In 1982, he appeared with the Is- rael Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Zubin Mehta at Tel Aviv's Mann Auditorium. A first prize winner of the Claremont Competition in Is- rael, he has recently given sev- eral recitals in New York City and has appeared with the New York Philharmonic at Avery Fisher Hall. On Wednesday at 8 p.m., the Israel Sinfonietta will appear at the main Jewish Commu- nity Center in West Bloom- field. Music director and chief conductor of the Sinfonietta, Mendi Rodan, is celebrating a decade with the orchestra. Rodan was the music director of the Belgium National Or- chestra in Brussels and head of Jerusalem's Rubin Academy of Music and Dance. From 1963 to 1972, Rodan was chief conductor of the Jerusalem Symphony Or- chestra and in 1965 founded the Jerusalem Chamber Or- chestra. For tickets, call the Jewish Center, 661-1000, ext. 341.
