Israel Alleged
To Have Made
Neutron Bomb

1bl Aviv (JTA) — Israel's
Atomic energy commission
has declined to reply to a
report last week in the Lon-
don Sunday Mirror that
Israel is manufacturing
atomic weapons and has in
fact produced a neutron
bomb.
Commission sources said
such allegations have sur-
faced from time to time. Com-
munications Minister Amnon
Rubinstein said the report
originated with a dubious
character quoting another
dubious character.
The Israeli media reported
that the person Rubinstein
referred to described himself
as Prof. Mordechai Vananu,
who is neither a professor nor
a scientist but a junior techni-
cian employed at the Dimona
nuclear research center. He
was fired a year ago for
unstable behavior. A London
press report said Vananu left
Israel for Australia because
he was dissatisfied with
Israeli policies.
