Temple Emanu-El will name
its newly renovated foyer for
Rosa and Nathan Rosen on Sept.
27, just prior to Shabbat eve-
ning services. The two sons of
the Rosens, Robert and Stanley,
major benefactors in the Tem-
ple's renovation, will assist in
the ceremony naming the foyer
in honor of the 60th wedding
anniversary of their parents.
Rosa and Nathan joined Tem-
ple Emanu-El in 1957 after
moving here from St. Louis and
have been active supporters of
temple activities. They moved to
Florida in the late 1970s and re-
turn periodically to Michigan to
spend the summer months with
their sons and families.
The senior Rosens have come
to the aid of many Jewish
causes in the St. Louis, Florida
and Detroit communities, and
that tradition is followed by
their family. Bob and Joan Ro-
sen, have been active in Temple
Emanu-El. Both have served on
temple's Board of Trustees and
as Couples Club president. Joan
has served as religious and ad-
ministrative vice president and
was also president of the con-
gregation. Stan and Antoinette
Rosen are active members of
Cong. Beth Shalom. They have
served on many of its commit-
tees.
The Rosen Foyer, the major
feature of the first phase of
Temple Emanu-El's renovation
project, which also included the
addition of a vestibule, was
completed in the fall , of 1984.
Phase II; completed just prior to
the High Holidays this year, in-
cludes the Kahn family Tree of
Life in memory of Randy Kahn,
and major updating of the Ann
Jospey Santuary, Esther
Katzman Social Hall and other
areas of the temple. Dedication
and rededication of these areas
will take place in December as
part of a weekend celebration
and dinner-dance. Phase III, to
be completed later this year or
early in 1986, will be the updat-
ing and dedication of the Shaya
Library, named in memory of
Sasson Shaya by his son, Dr.
Ezra Shaya.
