Former Detroiter Joseph
Handleman, national chairman
of the American Red Magen
David for Israel, will be featured
guest at the annual ARMDI
dinner for the Michigan Region,
Oct. 13 at Adat Shalom Syna-
gogue.
Handleman will make a pre-
sentation to honorees Garnt and
Louis Silverfarb for their
humanitarian work and efforts
on behalf of Magen David
Adorn, Isarel's equivalent of the
American Red Cross.
Carmi M. Slomovitz, dinner
chairman, will be assisted by
David B. Hermelin and Irving
Nusbaum, associate chairmen.
Paul Borman, William M.
Davidson, David Handleman,
Mike Must, Mrs. Morris L.
Schaver, Philip Slomovitz,
Myron S. Steinberg and Paul
Zuckerman serve as honorary
chairmen. The advanced gifts
division for the event will be
coordinated and aided by Mr.
and Mrs. Allen Charlupski, Mr.
and Mrs. Henry S. Dorfman,
Bernard Edelman, Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Ferber, Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph Gyongyosi, Mr. and Mrs.

Michigan Region chairman.
Rae Ann Sharfman, past hon-
oree and officer of the Michigan
Region, will make the presenta-
tion of the Distinguished
Humanitarian Service Award to
the honorees. Rabbi Herbert S.
Eakin, public relations coor-
dinator of the local chapter, will
recite the benediction. Music
will be provided by Eric
Rosenow and his Continentals.
The testimonial dinner will
aid Magen David Adom's emer-
gency medical, blood and ambu-
lance services in Israel. It also
will benefit the new MDA Na-
tional Blood Service Center, and
