Lodge will honor Kurt Singer at
its annual tribute dinner on be-
half of State of Israel Bonds at 6
p.m. June 18 at Adat Shalom
Synagogue, it was announced by
Lodge President Oscar Cook.
Dinner chairman is Alfred Steb-
bins.
Singer will be presented with
the State of Israel's Freedom
Award.
A member of B'nai B'rith since
1966, Singer has recently served
two consecutive terms as Mar-
shall Suburban president. Ear-
lier, he participated in the B'nai
B'rith District conventions of
1981 and 1983, where he served
on the district by-laws committee.
He is currently vice president of
the board of governors and also
chairman of the by-laws commit-
tee of the Hillel Foundation at
Wayne State University. Addi-
tionally, he serves as vice
president of the B'nai B'rith Met-
ropolitan Detroit Council.
For more than 25 years Singer
was an active leader in the
American Jewish Congress. He
held virtually every office of his
chapter, served as the executive
vice president of the AJC Council
of Michigan, and wrote both the
chapter and council constitutions.
Singer's other organizational
activities include Boy Scouts of
America, the American Jewish
Committee, the Michigan Demo-
cratic Party, the Southfield
Democratic Club, and the Michi-
gan Association of Property and
Liability Insurance Counselors,
for which he serves as treasurer.
He attended Finn College (now
Cleveland State University),
earned a A.B.A. degree and honor
keys from the Finn student body
for his work as music director of
the college magazine and for his
role as organizer and first
president of the Intercollegiate
Student Council of Greater Cleve-
land. During his college days he
was also active in Avukah, a
Jewish students organization
which later merged with the In-
tercollegiate Zionist Federation of
America.
