Family Chanukah fest at Center

The Jewish Community Center
of Metropolitan Detroit will spon-
sor its community Chanukah cel-
ebration on Dec. 16 at the main
Center complex.
Beginning at 1:30 p.m. with a
candlelighting ceremony, the day
will include a family menorah-
and latke-making session for
which there is a charge and pre-
registration is required.
A parent-toddler party for
families with children under age
2 1/2, a pre-school carnival for chil-
dren age 2 1/2-6 and Maccabiah
games for children age 7 and older
and candle-dipping and crafts for
children age 5 and older all will
take place at 1:45 p.m.
The film Fiddler on the Roof,

Holocaust studies
lectures at Center

Dr. Sid Bolkosky, professor of
history at the University of
Michigan-Dearborn, will present
a lecture series on Holocaust
studies beginning at 12:30 p.m.
Tuesday at the main Jewish Cen-
ter.
There is a fee, and non-
members are welcome. For de-
tails, call the Center, 661-1000,
ext. 218.

The Jewish Center will begin a
two-day-a-week luncheon pro-
gram for retired adults beginning
Monday under the auspices of the
Center's active adults depart-
ment.
Rabbi Milton Arm of Cong.
Beth Achim will speak Monday on
"Jewish Communities in Ger-
many Today."
Meeting Mondays and Thurs-
days at 10:30 a.m., the Active
Adults program provides educa-
tional, recreational, social, cul-
tural and fitness-oriented classes
and activities. Kosher lunches are
served.
Participants can choose from
classes including: senior fitness,
yoga, arts and crafts, card club,
water exercises and ballroom
dancing.
