—Ronald Reagan

At the B'nai B'rith
International Convention,
September 6, 1984

President Reagan and U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., Jeane Kirkpatrick

Unfortunately, the United States has not always given Israel such
steadfast support. Our policy reached its lowest point during the Carter-
Mondale administration on March 1, 1980, when the American delegate to
the U.N. actually voted in favor of a resolution that condemned Israel.
On the other hand, President Reagan has constantly backed his
unwavering support of Israel with actions.
Example: For the first time in history, the U.S. and Israel have agreed
on a formal strategic relationship to counter the Soviet threat to our mutual
interests in the Mid-East.

Example: Between 1981 and 1984 we have increased our economic
assistance to Israel more than any previous administration over a
comparable time.
There are many other good reasons to vote for Ronald Reagan. But his
loyal sustainment of Israel in an increasingly hostile world is an. outstanding
one. We would like to remind our community of that.
