THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS Friday, October 26, 1984 ever the United Nations ouldvote to expel Israel, then Israel and the United out of States will t t hall to theE" —Ronald Reagan At the B'nai B'rith International Convention, September 6, 1984 President Reagan and U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., Jeane Kirkpatrick Unfortunately, the United States has not always given Israel such steadfast support. Our policy reached its lowest point during the Carter- Mondale administration on March 1, 1980, when the American delegate to the U.N. actually voted in favor of a resolution that condemned Israel. On the other hand, President Reagan has constantly backed his unwavering support of Israel with actions. Example: For the first time in history, the U.S. and Israel have agreed on a formal strategic relationship to counter the Soviet threat to our mutual interests in the Mid-East.
