Michigan Region B'nai B'rith
Youth Organization received 13
individual awards at the
recently-concluded AZA-BBG In-
ternational Convention held at
the B'nai B'rith Penman Camp in
Starlight, Pa.
Seven Michigan Region AZA
and BBG chapters were recog-
nized as all-around best chapters.
Chapters receiving the Henry
Monsky Award were Akiba AZA,
Ronald L. Posed AZA, Samson
AZA, and for the tenth consecu-
tive year, Gen. Maurice Rose
AZA. Named to the Miriam Al-
bert Chapter Honor Roll were Dr.
B. Benedict Glazer BBG, Dora
Savage BBG, and Shoshanna
BBG.
Susan Zweig of Savage BBG
won first place in the Interna-
tional BBG Storytelling Contest,
while Hilary Olson of Machar
BBG won first place in Original-
ity Plus-Handicrafts and Samson
AZA took first place in the Inter-
national AZA Newspaper Con-
test.
Michigan Region was also rec-
ognized as the recipient of three
International Program of the
Year Awards. First place awards
were accorded to Akiba AZA and
Shoshanna BBG for their Milan
Conference Centre weekend on
the theme of "What Is A Jew?"
and to the Great Lakes AZA and
BBG Councils for their BBYO
Week and celebration of the AZA
60th anniversary. A second place
award went to Sen. Philip Hart
AZA and Samson AZA for their
joint mock trial program.
Zahav BBG, Michigan Region's
newest chapter, announces its
officers for the 1984-1985 pro-
gram year: Lisa Kay, president;
Sarah Gordon, vice president;
Stephanie Simon, MIT Mom; Amy
Drasin, treasurer; Donna Tal, re-
cording secretary; Michelle Be-
rris, corresponding secretary; and
Julie Brzuszek, rep6rter.
BBYO will hold its annual kic-
koff dance on Sept. 29 at
Southfield-Lathrup High School
at 8:30 p.m. The dance is open to
all Jewish youth. Admission is
free to all registered members of
AZA and BBG. Non-registered
members and prospective mem-
bers will be admitted at a nominal
fee. Music will be provided by
John Sapien of Dance With Me
Productions.
The theme of the • dance is
"BBYO Fever Catch It!" and AZA
and BBG chapters are participat-
ing in a poster contest exploring
this theme. The deadline for
poster contest entries is today.
Coordinators for the dance are
Ron Kuppersmith of Akiba AZA
and Jodi Leichtman of Brice BBG.

Rapids announces the results of
recent elections for officers for

Dan Hornak, treasurer; Debbi
