open New Year's Eve.
The Majestic Theater was
a wonderful place to go for a
lot of people . . . but if the
building had to be anything
they can be glad its the
Gnome and all those other
things inside which Joe
owns.

without the fish.
Also, a female reader
complains about being sea-
ted at Jacques for lunch by a
window . . . and then asked
to move by noon hostess .. .
when four comely-looking
men arrived ... because the
table "was reserved" .. .
Reader justly refused to
move . . . but graciously did
so eventually . .. on her own
. . . without so much as a
mere thank you from the.
hbstess . . . (I don't think
owner Jim Thompson would
go for this kind of tactic on
the part of his employee.)
ABSOLUTELY NO
TRUTH to that rumor
about Irving's Deli on
Greenfield and 11 Mile
being sold. . It is still very
much owned operated
by the Guttman family.
The -false rumor had be-
come so severe that some
people called to ask if its
"new owners" would still
make their trays . . . Even a
cousin of Rose's asked if it
was true.
This could be a vicious-at-
tempt by jealous deli owners
to pass around an utterly
total falsity . . . or may have .
been started because of Irv-
ing's recent second leg am-
putation . . . In any case, it
is totally false . . . Rose,
sons, daughter and
daughter-in-law ... . as-
sisted by cousins and a fine
staff of employees . . . are
operating it in as full swing
as ever ... Won't be long
either, before Irving himself
is back also.
OPENING SOMETIME
in spring will be Norman's
Eaton Street Station in
Birmingham• . . by Norm
LePage of Nifty Norman's,
Eric Lutz and Tony
Brown.
NO MORE DEWEY'S at
Michigan Inn after New
Year's Eve . . . It'll be called
the White Parrot . . . trans-
formed into a larger art deco
place . . . No more live
entertainment either . . .
there'll be D.J. music and a
stainless steel floor with
speakers . . . A huge neon
parrot flapping its wings
will hang from the ceiling.
IF YOU SAW Superman
II, you'll remember the
home he visited at the
North Pole ... . This is what
the ceiling of
on
Franklin and Northwestern
looks like . . . decorated by
Darleen Archer and Rick
Hoffman* . . with the very
unusual display of cello-
bags that give an appear-
ance of ice clusters . . .
Never seen anything like it
. . . most novel and interest-
ingly beautiful.
It was talk of the recent

shadowed the food . . . Chef
Marty Wilk did a superb job
with an outstanding menu

encroute (pastry filled with
salmon mousse, vermouth
and hollandaise) . . . green
