LISTENING
POST

SO MUCH NOSTAL-
GIA . . . and why wouldn't
there be . . . at 50th wedding
anniversary? . . . Celebra-
tion was for Esther and
Bernard "B.B." Bolton,
given by their sons and
daughters-in-law at Furni-
ture Club for about 125
relatives and close friends.
Sam Terman, who came
in from Tamarac, Fla., was
best man for them twice .. .
at elopement and before
rabbi . . . Sam, B.B., Jerry
Hack and Nate Golden
chummed together before
Ben married Esther Char-
ness . . . All were there .. .
and renewed old times.
Party was by Dr. Norman
and Sheila Bolton, Dr. Steve
Bolton and Ken and Paula
Bolton . . . with really a
three-fold celebration .. .
Also Esther's birthday the
same day . . . plus Norm's
and Sheila's 23rd anniver-
sary . . . but celebration was
for B.B. and Esther's 50-
year togetherness.
Fenby-Carr group
played songs of 1933
(there were many abso-
lutely great ones written
that year), passed out
song sheets for sing-a-
long ... and did the usual
superb job they've been
doing for so many years
(Gene Fenby, Milt Ap-
tekar and Maurice Lax
have been together a long
time) in total entertain-
ment . . . Five plus female
vocalist played the Bol-
ton gala shindig.
Ageless Annie Charness,
Esther's mother, 87 years
old, looking and feeling so
very good . . . Sid and Jean
Charness dancing so close
(and why not?) . . . Big Carl
Huhn looking at B.B.'s
hands and saying, "I've
never seen them so clean"
. . . with Ben telling that for
this occasion three days
_ were spent washing away
the grease from cars he
works on at home.

Marjorie and Russell
Greenberg a wonderful
couple . . . and such good
friends of the Boltons .. .
Millie Hack taking excep-
tion at hubby Jerry calling
her his "seeing-eye dog" .. .
Congrats to Jerry on birth-
day number 70.
Family pictures from yes-
teryears all around the
lounge amidst two televi-
sions . . . one video taping
goings on . . . other showing
films of days ago . . . Res-
taurant equipment man
Harry Paul suave in his
double-breasted checked
jacket . . . Al Holtz telling of
being passed off as "My son,
Steve" by B.B. . . . when the
real Steve went to school in
Des Moines, Iowa . . . They
were born three days apart
and both have beards.
Was second affair same
day for Frankie Selman,
whose 65th birthday was
celebrated by 100 people
brunching at Jakks .
Sylvia Zukin, B.B.'s sis-

ter, Ciancing with such
vibrancy.
Esther and B.B. deserve
the koved from family and
friends . . . their children
know it . . . and make cer-
tain it isn't passed by lightly
. . . Such love can't be
bought, my friends.
WHERE THEY ARE
. . . Carl and Carol Steger
. . . 3704 Mundy Ridge
Drive . . . Sarasota, Fla.
33583, (813) 923-4051.
SIXTH ANNUAL fund
raiser by Michigan Chapter
of National Foundation for
Ileitis and Colitis had about
800 folks yesterday to its
pre-glow party and pre-
miere showing of "To Be or
Not To Be" starring Mel
Brooks and wife Anne Ban-
croft at Town Theater on
Greenfield.
Michigan Panthers have
joined in promotion with
NFIC, called "Kicks For Re-
search" . . . Coach Jim Stan-
ley's wife, Sylvia, honorary
chairperson, has Crohn's
Disease, a cronic inflam-
matory bowel disorder .. .
Team placekicker Novo
Bojovic has pledged $50 for
every field goal he makes in
1984.
NFIC is country's number
one give'r of receipts .
Only 15 percent is used for
administration and a whop-
ping 85 percent for research
and education . . . Some
groups I know are vice versa
. . . Checks can be sent to
NFIC, 17000 W. Eight Mile,
LL63A, Southfield, Mich.

CHARLES FOSTER,
PGA teaching pro at Rac-
kham Golf Course on 10
Mile with pro Ben Davis, is
a three-in-one talent . . .
Plus showing how to im-
prove one's golf game, he
also is most proficient for
parties ... doing carica-
tures and magical tricks
(maybe he can poof! that
hole-in-one Phyllis Tyner
yearns to tell about) .. .
Charles and Ben have an
indoor range at Rackham
for winter golfing lessons.
REGARDS FROM Stu
Segal in Las Vegas, Nev... .
with news of son David
being Bar Mitzva recently
at Temple Emanuel there
. . . "Las Vegas has made a
complete turn around,"
write Stu . . . "Business is
great, although it does not
consist of rollers that you
and I know about. It's
mostly conventioneers."
(He sends picture of his son,
a beautiful boy, at the bima
with Cantor Gary Goldbar.)

Arab Emigration

JERUSALEM (ZINS) —
The newspaper Haaretz
says that 94,000 Arabs emi-
grated from Judea and
Samaria during the six
years between 1974 and
1980. The newspaper says
the Arab population of that
region was 704,000 in 1980,
an increase of 42,000 in four
years.

Louis G. Redstone, fellow
of the American Institute of
Architects, has just pub-
lished his seventh book,
"Masonry in Architecture."
