Sam Klar of Southfield
was honored Wednesday by
the Pinsker Progressive Aid
Society as its man of the
year in ceremonies at Cong.
Bnai David.
The occasion, the annual
Histadrut meeting of the
society, also marked Mr.
Klar's 80th birthday.

(Donna) Klar, Mr. and Mrs.
Stan (Ilene) Gittleman and
Dr. and Mrs. Selwyn (Terry)
Fidelman; 11 grandchildren
and one great-grand-
daughter.
Born in Russia, Mr.
Klar has lived in Detroit
since he was 18. He is the
former owner of Met-
ropolitan and Tiger
Cleaners in Detroit. He is
retired.
Mr. Klar was married to
the former Libby Resnick in
1923. Mrs. Klar died in
1963.
Mr. Klar has been a
member of Pinsker Pro-
gressive Aid Society for
many years, and held many
posts in the organization.
He is a founder of Pinsker's
Kupat Holim clinic in
Herzliya, Israel.

certificates to some 100 con-
secrants, 150 confirmands
and 400 graduates of Michi-
gan's day, afternoon,
synagogue and temple
schools.
Each certificate is accom-
panied by a letter of tribute
from the JNF which states
that "in recognition of your
devotion to Jewish studies,
a tree will grow in Israel in
your name." JNF has been
giving gifts of trees in Israel
to students for 20 years.
