THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS

Danny Raskin's
LISTENING
POST
NEW BROADWAY
MARKET on Middlebelt
and 14 Mile . . . will open
April 3 . . . with 80 percent
occupancy . . . and no car-
rying things around .. .
There'll be shopping carts
for those visiting the kosher
butcher, boutiques, fruit
market, etc.
Remember Lefkofsky's at
the old Broadway Market in
downtown Detroit? . . . This
time it'll be Greenberg's
Deli at the new Broadway
Market . . . owned and oper-
ated by Sandy and Ron
Greenberg, who retain , the
name as a tribute to dad and
mom s Irving and Ruth
Greenberg, taking life easy
now, retired from the deli
business, and spending time
traveling.
Greenberg's Deli with its
1,500 square feet, will be
strictly carry-out . . . but a
sector named Greenberg's
Corner will have stand-up
counters where people can
eat while reading newspap-
ers on the wall and looking
at the collector-item photos
of old Detroit. (DOwntown
Broadway Market will be
one of the pictures.)
Like an old time deli,
everyone will wear white
shirts and garter on arm .. .
Sandy and Ron will even
grow handlebar mustaches.
REPLACEMENT HIP
for Eliot Raskin was recal-
led one day prior to
scheduled surgery last week
at Mt. Carmel Hospital.
New hip and surgery have
been re-scheduled for April.
Eliot has donated more
than 13 gallons of blood (104
pints) to the American Red
Cross during the last 20
years . . . and contributed
two pints for himself prior to
surgery . . . The two pints
have now been frozen .. .
Doctors want to use his own
blood because they say it re-
duces the risk of reaction.
Eliot has donated for
years at Cong. Bnai Moshe
where he is recording sec-
retary of the synagogue and
wife Doreen has chaired its
annual blood drive.

Allen aces No. 6 hole (195

real break at bar. Only 10

It's cold. 55 degrees."
