For years, the Metropoli-
tan Kashruth Council of
Michigan has been cam-
paigning against price
gouging, especially during
the season of Passover.
Many products are kosher
for Passover, even though
they are not so marked. Fol-
lowing are the products
which are kosher for Pas-
sover, without special
markings: aluminum foil

certification); scouring

According to Rabbi
Joseph B. Soloveitchik of
Boston, most bathroom
cosmetics do not require
Passover certification. This
includes toothpaste,
mouthwash, shampoo, soap,
dentifrice, lipstick, rouge
and nail polish. Some tal-
cum powders contain corn
starch as an anti-caking
agent. These should not be
used, but if the powder
specifies some other anti-
caking agent, such as trical-
cium phosphate, it may be
used without Passover cer-
tification.
Those colognes and
perfumes that are not
made with grain alcohol
may be used without
Passover certification.
Ordinary aspirin pro-
ducts and synthetic al-
Cohol may be used. Most
medicines contain no ob-
jectionable substances. If

French Neo-Nazi
Survives Attack

PARIS (JTA) — A French
neo-Nazi was seriously
wounded last week by an
anonymous assailant who
shot him in the chest and
shoulder.
Marc Gillet, 23, was shot
in his apartment in Nice.
His condition was described
as serious by hospital
sources.
Gillet was found guilty
last May of neo-Nazi ac-
tivities. A Nice court sen-
tenced him to 18 months
imprisonment but most of
the sentence was sus-
pended. He was accused of
addressing threatening,
violently anti-Semitic let-
ters to Jewish leaders in the
south of France.
