Beth Achim to Conclude
Bar Mitzva Anniversary

Dr. Shalom Paul to Speak
as Bnai Moshe Guest Scholar

Cong. Beth Achim's
year-long Bar Mitzva An-
niversary Celebration con-
cludes next weekend with a
series of events to celebrate
the synagogue merger 13
years ago of Ahavas Achim
and Beth Aaron which
created Beth Achim.
An outgrowth of the
year's activities has been a
Bar Mitzva Anniversary
Fund, which has been
created by Beth Achim
members and friends to
support the synagogue's
events. The fund will re-
main in existence following
the conclusion of this year's
events.
The anniversary will con-
clude with several events: A
Sabbath dinner at 7 p.m.
March 26 in Beth Achim's
Wasserman Hall will honor
immediate past president

Israeli educator, Dr.
Shalom Paul, will be the
scholar-in-residence at
Cong. Bnai Moshe March 26
and 27. He will appear
under the auspices of the
Bnai Moshe Cultural Com--
mission, headed by Ronna
Rosenbaum, to honor the
memory of Rabbi Moses
Lehrman, long-time
spiritual leader of Bnai
Moshe.
Dr. Paul has been senior
lecturer in Bible at Hebrew
and Tel Aviv Universities
for 11 years. American-born
and ordained at the' Jewish
Theological Seminary,
Rabbi Paul holds a PhD de-
gree in Oriental studies
from the University of
Pennsylvania. _ _

Rabbi Milton Arm will
give the sermon.
At 8 p.m. March 28, the
musical program "An Over-
ture to Opera" will be pre-
sented by • the Michigan
Opera Company at the
synagogue. Cantors Lef-
kowitz and Shimansky will
also perform. There is no
charge for the event, but
tickets must be obtained in
advance from the
synagogue.

A recent survey shows that
there is a basic mistrust be-
tween Israeli Arabs and
Jews.
Some 73 percent of the
Jews regard Israel as a na-
tional home for Jews. Only
five percent of the Arabs
held the same opinion. Only
18 percent of the Arabs be-
lieve that Jews will always
be the majority in Israel.
