THE LARGEST single
shipment of live lobsters
ever to arrive in Detroit
were unloaded at Met-
ropolitan Airport last week.
About 2,000 lobsters were
flown in from Boston by re-
staurateur Chuck Muer for
a special lobster promotion
running through Sept. 30
called "Lobster Main-ia."
Two giant lobsters — in
the 20-pound, 24-inch long
class, also arrived ... They
are on display at Westland
and Eastland shopping cen-
ters through this Tuesday.
A "Guess the Weight of
the Giant Lobster" con-
test is part of each of the
shopping center dis-
plays.
Chuck's six area restau-
rants serving lobster are
Charley's Crab in Troy,
Diggers in Farmington
Hills, Charley's Raw Bar &
Seafood Restaurant in
Hotel Pontchartrain, River
Crab in St. Clair, Gandy
Dancer in Ann Arbor and
Chuck Muer's in Toledo.

He'd like to bring back
the "Pine Lake Days" of his
first Charley's Crab ...
When Chuck created the
lobster clambake bucket out
there in 1970, it was a
smash ... with people liter-
ally rolling up their sleeves,
digging in and having a lot
of fun.
For the first time since
opening his first seafood
restaurant, Charley's Crab
on Pine Lake, he is expand-
ing his Charley's Bucket
line of New England clam-
bake "feasts."
A new version called
the Bar Harbor Bucket
has been introduced ...
containing boiled Maine
lobster, corn on the cob,
redskin potatoes and
mussels.
The original Charley's
Bucket contains all of the
above, plus steamer clams
and one-half of a Dungeness
crab ... It had previously
been available only for two
or more ... but for the first
time, now Charley's Bucket
and the Bar Harbor Bucket
can each be gotten for one
diner.

MORE PEOPLE THAN
ever are beginning to dis-
cover Deli Unique ... It's not
the ordinary deli ... very far
from it ... Delicatessen
products are sold ... but not
featured ... which may
sound strange for a deli.
If owner Matt Prentice
served his gourmet-style
food ... and did his tableside
cooking ... in another locale,
chances are people would
need reservations weeks in
advance.
Deli Unique is no secret
It's there where Northgate
used to be on Greenfield just
north of 10 Mile
Northgate owner Dick
Lichtman never dreamed of
serving items like Beef Wel-
lington, Duck a l'Orange,
Tournedos of Beef, etc. ...
and you can't beat Matt's
Stuffed Breast of Chicken
dinner.
The prices are hardly be-
lievable ... Most of the items
found at three times more
are in the $6 or $7 range for
complete meals from
home-made soups like zuc-
chini and mushroom to re-
lish dish, salad, entree, des-
sert and even special baked
potato ... A lot of those luci-
ous desserts like Key Lime
pie among others are made
in the Deli Unique kitchen.
THE MYSTERY
MUNCHER writes ...
"Maximilian's on Wood-
ward near 14 Mile is an-
other place where the at-
mosRhere is pleasant and
decorative. The bamboo
touches and stucco
walls' in the separate rooms
make you feel as though
you're south of the border
down Mexico way. And the
bar is away from the dining
rooms so you're insulated
from the sounds of glasses
tinkling and tipplers titter-
ing.
The first basket of tor-
tilla chips with a spicy dip
on your table is Maximil-
ian's .treat. So you don't
spoil your appetite, each
