BIG DOINGS at Michi-
gan Inn's brunch this Sun-
day, 10:30 to 2 ... The next to
last in its series of "Summer
Ethnic Delights" is a Jewish
buffet.
Placed outside the Coffee
Garden, the weekly deco-
rated gazebo will be like a
sukka for this occasion ...
with leaves and fruit on the
roof ... candelabra, fruit,
wine, yarmulkes, halla, etc.
on the inside ... plus posters
with Jewish themes.
The buffet is right down
the alley for Remy Berdy,
Michigan Inn executive
chef ... born in Israel and
very steeped in Jewish tra-
ditional dining.
Remy's ice carvings at the
buffet will be Fiddler On
The Roof and a menora.
The food he's preparing is
so diversified along this
Judaic idea that one would
think he's been working on
this since the program be-
gan.
Dishes like chicken soup
with kreplach and matza
balls, chopped liver, gefilte
fish, lox, cream cheese,
halla, bagels, matzot,
cheese ... hot dishes of sliced
corned beef, Cholent
(cooked for 24 hours), felafel
(a true Israeli dish served in
pita bread), kishka and
knishes, sauteed chicken
livers, mushrooms and
meatballs, kugels, eggplant
casserole, hot dogs, latkes,
cheese blintzes, beef flan-
ken.
— Also, borscht salad with
sour cream, meat and cab-
bage, herring salad,
eggplant salad, tongue and
celery salad and marinated
broccoli and mushrooms
mixed in an Israeli vinaig-
rette.
There'll even be desserts
like tsimmes, fruit cake,
apple streudel, shneckens,
citrus fruits, figs, etc.
This should be one of the
most successful of the
Michigan Inn Sunday
brunches ... It's something
Chef Remy Berdy can really
sink his teeth into ... and
don't think he won't ...
Remy loves this food!
HAVE YOU HAD the
turkey at Rialto Cafe? ...
Try it with gravy on the side
... The Woodward spot just
south of Nine Mile slices it
off the bird ... and uses a lot
of turkeys each week.
THE SUNDAY dinner
Chinese buffet has been so
successful at New Garden in
the A & P Shopping Center
on Coolidge and Nine Mile
that, the Lee family has
started it on Wednesday
evenings also ... Sunday 4 to
8 and Wednesday 5 to 8 ...
same price, $5.95 ... The
daily all-you-can-eat lunch
buffet 11:30 to 2 p.m. Mon-
day through Friday is also a
big winner at $3.95.
New Garden is a family-
operated Chinese restau-
rant ... with Fu and Yuen
Bun Lee in the kitchen and
their son, Wing and daugh-
ter, Fai, on the floor.

RESTAURANT AND LOUNGE

25234 GREENFIELD AT 10 MILE

The restaurant you wrote us
about would like very much
to have a serious inquiry
into the unfortunate eve-
ning you and your family
encountered.
MAXIE SILK still has
the Left Field Deli on
Michigan and Brooklyn
Ave.... with people meeting
others they haven't seen in
years ... And Maxie still
does his own corned beef
cutting ... between quips.
YOU'D HAVE A hard
time convincing Sam Am-
brose that any other Italian
restaurant is as good as
Mario's on Second.
GOOD WAITER DEPT.
. Achille Bianchi ... at
Mario's ... very efficient,
courteous and highly ex-
perienced ... the kind of wai-
ter you hope will wait on
your table.
THE LOVING CUP is at
Kansas City Steak House
on 14 Mile Rd. east of John
R (formerly Carl's Apart-
ment) for a nine-week
engagement through Oct.
31.
It originally opened as
Carl's Kansas City Steak
House, went to Carl's
Apartment and is now back
to Kansas City Steak
House.
