NASHVILLE — Three
members of the Confederate
Vigilante Knights of the Ku
Klux Klan were arrested
this week by police and
charged with conspiring to
bomb a Nashville
synagogue, a television
tower and Jewish
businesses.
The three were arrested
while driving toward the
synagogue after leaving a
bomb in a nearby parking
lot.
Federal agents reported
that they have had the
KKK group under surveil-
lance for two months and
they expected more arrests
in the case.

Gets Music Grant

Former Detroiter David
Mash of Boston, Mass., son
of Mr. and Mrs. Hyman
Morgan and the late Mr.
Jack B. Mash, recently was
awarded the Massachusetts
Council on the Arts and
Humanities Fellowship
Grant for music composi-
tion. He received the award
in the jazz category.
While attending Berklee
College of Music in Boston,
Mash was the recipient of a
scholarship from the Music
Study Club of Metropolitan
Detroit.

diploma from Rabbi David C. Kogen, vice chancellor
of The Jewish Theological Seminary of America as
Cantor Jeffrey Shiovitz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Shiovitz of Southfield, looks on. Cantor Shiovitz re-
ceived the degree of bachelor of sacred music and the
diploma of cantor at the seminary's 87th annual com-
mencement, held May 10 at the Park Avenue
Synagogue, New York City, and Rabbi Silberschein
was ordained rabbi, teacher and preacher at the
exercises.

The school library is the
outgrowth of a 12-year-old
Children's Library program
