80th birthday on Sunday.
Cong. Shaarey Zedek will
mark the occasion and
Blumberg's half-century of
service to the synagogue at
Sabbath services Saturday
morning.
Born in Standish, Mich.,
Blumberg moved with his
parents to Detroit whe
he was 13. He com-
pleted his education at Old
Central High School and
Detroit Business Institute.
His first employment was at
the Fisher Body Company
where he worked until 1925
when he and his late twin
brother, Irving, founded
Blumberg Brothers Insur-
ance Agbncy.
A respected leader of
the Allied Jewish Cam-
paign and the Jewish
Welfare Federation,
Blumberg is a past
president of Franklin-
Hills Country Club and
the Standard Club. He, is
a life member of the
board of trustees of Sinai
Hospital. The Louis C.
and Edith B. Blumberg
Professional Office
Building at Sinai Hospi-
tal, dedicated in 1972, is a
product of his philan-
thropy.
He is a life member of Per-
fection Lodge of the Masons,
the National Conference of
Christians and Jews
(NCCJ), Boys Club of Met-
ropolitan Detroit, American
Jewish Congress and
American Jewish Commit-
tee. He is a charter member
of the Detroit Round Table
of NCCJ.
Blumberg is a member of
Cong. Shaarey Zedek, Tem-
ple Beth El, Downtown
Synagogue, the "100" Club,
Detroit Board of Commerce,
and the Detroit and Michi-
gan Insurance Associations.
