Book Honors Rose Vainstein

The School of Library Sci-
ence at the University of
Michigan has published a
73-page, soft-cover volume
incorporating the papers
presented at- an institute
one year ago that honored
Prof. Rose Vainstein on the
occasion of her retirement.
The volume, entitled
"Public Libraries and New
Directions for Adult Serv-
ices," was edited by Joan C.
Durrance and Prof. Vains-
tein, according to Dean
Russell E. Bidlack of U-M's
School of Library Science.
Prof. Vainstein was a
member of the school's
faculty from 1968-1980.
She was director of the
Bloomfield Township
Public Library from
1964-1968. She was prev-
iously a member of the
founding faculty of the
school of librarianship at
the University of British
Columbia in Vancouver.
She has served as a li-
