just about every dish .. .
There's barbeque ribs,

fried perch . . and Ginger

while there recently ...
and brought .us the spe-
cialty of delicious bean
soup made with Grecian
spices (all the Ginger
Man soups are made at
the restaurant. Many say
its clam chowder is the
best around). Then bar-
beque chicken served
with a slice of pineapple

etable ... ($4.95).
It's owned by Seymour
and Linda Markey . . . she's
there during the day and he
takes over at night . . . Both
are at the Ginger Man on
Saturdays and Sundays.
Another waitress, Lori
Rogow, is the daughter of
Roy and Sally Rogow.
Try a piece of Linda's

of today, Ginger Man also
has ginger ice cream.
The Sunday Brunch, 10
a.m. to 2 p.m., is $3.95 per
person . . . with lox, cream
cheese, two bagels, smoked
fish, olives, cucumbers, to-
matoes and onions . . .
brought on a large platter
. . . enough for two people.
The striking brown tones
at Ginger Man Restaurant
make it among the nicest
looking places around to
enjoy breakfast, lunch and
dinner.
LOOKS LIKE Raleigh
Square Marketplace may
finally be open by July of
this year . . . on 10 Mile and
Telegraph . . . Over 45 per-
cent of the 100,000 sq. foot
space is leased . . . Entire
former Raleigh House ban-
quet halls have been de-
molished from the ceilings
to the mirrored walls and
huge catering kitchen .. .
All you can see are steel
beams and studs . a full
wall remains separating the
catering area from the
former Picadilly restau-
rant, whose kitchen has re-
mained.
MAIL DEPT. . . "I just
had to write and tell you
about Mrs. Herbert Golds-
tein of Oak Park. She read
about my "woes" in your
column and sent me a
coupon for a dozen bagels at
her son's store in Dallas
called Bagelstein's. I can't
believe there still are people
that beautiful around. To
take the time out to make
someone happy restores my
faith. I wrote and thanked
her.
"Of course Dallas is 120
miles away, but when my
sister comes down here in
May, you better believe
we'll go to Dallas and I'll go
to Bagelstein's and load up
on everything I like. Now if
I could just find a Larco's,
everything will be fine."

on Southfield and 12 1/2 Mile
in Farrell's Shopping Plaza
. . . turned out to be quite a
headache for boss guys John
Psaila and Marty Malatin
. . . Chef Mark Levine was
out with the flu . . . and two
important waitresses didn't
show up . . . Result was the
restaurant owner's biggest
terror . . . having a loaded
spot without its first team to
carry the ball.
John and Marty have
since been holding double
practice sessions to make
sure it doesn't happen again
. . . and hired backup people
in case of such emergencies.
The ribs at PX must be
classed with the meatiest,
tenderest and tastiest in
any sit-down barbeque spot
around .. PX bastes its ribs
and chicken on a rotisserie
spit . . . and serves them dry
only on request .. .
I also like its little but
important touch of putting
those steak fries on the side
instead of their getting
