Parents for Torah for All Children
MICHIGAN CHAPTER
PTACH — Parents forTorah for All Children — is a group of concerned
members of the Greater Detroit Jewish Community dedicated to the task of
providing a comprehensive program for Jewish children with learning dis-
abilities.
L.D. — Learning Disability is the general term used to describe a variety of
learning and perceptual problems in otherwise intelligent, normal children
which may hinder or prevent perception, understanding, or expression in
learning.
It is estimated that MORE THAN ONE OUT OF EVERY EIGHT CHILDREN
STRUGGLE WITH A LEARNING PROBLEM.
PTACH, Michigan Chapter, has already had notable success here in our
own community:
The establishment of the only full time, secular and Hebrew L.D. pro-
gram in our community;
The engagement of two highly qualified teachers, certified in the L.D.
specialty;
Trained staff to test and evaluate each child and develop a curriculum
tailored to his needs;
An active Professional Advisory Board, comprised of members in the
fields of Medicine, Psychology, Education, Social Work, and Psychiatry
which has assumed the leadership role ih providing staffing, supervi-
sion, and consultation to our program.
