synagogue high school, will
lead study groups. There is

Jewish Institute for
Youth (JIFY) for youth in
grades nine-12 will sponsor
a social 8 p.m. Dec. 6 at
Shaarey Zedek. There is a

and deliver the Dvar
Torah at Young Israel of

tion Apartments at 2:30

The group will reassem-
ble at Young Israel of
Greenfield for a Torah study
session led by Rabbi Henoch
Millen, principal of
Yeshivat Akiva. Minha is

Bnei Akiva Starts Program

Tochnit Av Chinuchi, a
new concept in education
within youth movements,
will be put into operation 3
p.m. Saturday at the Morris"
Branch of the Jewish Com-
munity Center.
The Tochnit Av Chinuchi
is an educational program
developed by Bnei Akiva of
North America. The pro-
gram assures that children
in grades one-eight who
regularly attend Bnei
Akiva Shabat meetings will
receive information that
will strengthen their reli-
gious Zionist identity. At
the same time, the program
fills in the gaps that may
have been left in a child's
day-school or afternoon
school education.

Latke Recipes
By NORMA BARACH

PINEAPPLE LATKES
2 cups flour
1 egg
2/3 cup pineapple-orange
juice
1 no. 303 can pineapple
chunks, drained
3 tsps. baking powder
24 ozs. oil
Mix ingredients together.
Heat a pot of oil. Drop latkes
from spoon into hot oil. Deep
fry until golden brown. Drain
well on paper towels. Serve
hot and immediately.

BLENDER LATKES
7 large diced potatoes
1 medium onion, diced
2 large eggs
salt and pepper to taste
1 tbsp. matzo meal
oil
Grate potatoes and onion in
blender (with water). Drain off
the liquid. Mix in eggs, salt,
pepper and matzo meal. Drop
by teaspoonful in hot oil on a
skillet. Brown on both sides.
Drain on paper towels. Serves
5.

Boy Scout Troop
to Meet Monday

Boy Scout Troop 23 will
hold another program in its
emergency preparedness
series Monday at the South-
field fire station located on
Lahser Road, south of 10
Mile Road. The group will
meet at the station at 6:45
p.m.
The troop's regular meet-
ings are held 7:15 p.m.
Mondays at the Morris
Branch of the Jewish Com-
munity Center.

her daughter, Debra Jean
Holzman, to Scott Brooke
Silver, son of Dr. and Mrs.
Robert R. Silver of Far-
mington Hills.
Miss Holzman, daughter
of the, late Dr. Robert
Holzinan, was graduated
from the University of
Wisconsin-Madison. She
holds a master's degree in
social work from Washing-
ton University, St. Louis.
Her fiance earned a
bachelor's degree at Wayne
State University and a mas-
ter's degree in vocational
rehabilitation from the
University of Wisconsin-
Milwaukee.
A June wedding is
planned.
