1,000 delegates from

converge on Washington,
D.C. for the' 82nd national
convention of the Zionist
Organization of America,
Thursday through Oct. 19
at the Capital Hilton Hotel.
Noting that the theme of
the ZOA gathering is
"Washington/Jerusalem —
Capitals of Freedom," Ivan
J. Novick, president of the
ZOA, said that "Jerusalem
was and has always been
the heart of Zion."
Invitations have been is-
sued to the Presidential
candidates to address the
convention. Other speakers
will be Yitzhak Berman,
Speaker of the Knesset;
Harry Hurwitz, minister of
information at the Embassy
of Israel in Washington;
Sara Doron, Member of the
Knesset; Dr. David
Sidorsky, professor of phi-
losophy at Columbia Uni-
versity; Yitzhak Modai, Is-
rael minister of energy and
infrastructure.
Others are Fr. Robert F.
Drinan; Dr. Joseph P.

rabbis as part of its investi-
gation of bribery and cor-
ruption within the Ministry
of Religious Affairs.
Police accused Rabbi
Amram Korach of paying
an $850 bribe to obtain a
larger grant for the Insti-
tute for Yemenite Jewish
Heritage in Bnai Brak.
Rabbi Abraham Mog-
hrabi was also arrested and
charged with continuing to
receive payments and sub-
mitting false enrollment
reports to the government
after his Abuhazira Rabbin-
ical College closed in
Jerusalem. The institution
was open only for four
months.
