Citizens, said the public is
invited to the opening of
JARC's newest residence, in
which six adults have made
their home for the past two
months. All are employed at
Jewish Vocational
Service-Community Work-
shop.
Wachler said that Rabbi
and Mrs. Solomon H. Grus-
kin will be honored at the
2:30 p.m. dedication cere-
mony, which is being held
with the assistance of
Cooperative Council of the
League of Jewish Women's
Organizations, chaired by
Nettie Deutch.
The residence was
opened in conjunction
with the Macomb-
Oakland Regional Cen-
ter, which provides serv-
ices to mentally handi-
capped persons.
Staff and residents of the
Devonshire home will be on
hand to show open house
guests through the rooms,
and board members of the
JARC will answer ques-
tions.
All Haverim Homes have
kosher kitchens, and the
residents participate in a
variety of Jewish social and
holiday activities, including
programs at the Jewish
Community Center and
camping at various sites.
For information or a
brochure about the associa-
tion, call Executive Director
Joyce Keller, 557-7650.
The JARC announced
that Lynn E. Medow has
been named director of
residential programs.
Ms. Medow previously
served as coordinator of so-
cial services for the JARC,
whose activities on behalf of
retarded persons relate
primarily to residential
care. The JARC operates
four Haverim Homes and,
for those enabled to live in-
dependently, supervises an
apartment program.
A former workshop
supervisor for the Wayne
County Association for Re-
tarded Citizens, Ms. Medow
was a staff member of the
Fresh Air Society, serving
as program coordinator of
the Ortonville facility of
Camp Tamarack and, ear-
lier, as drama and village
supervisor.
She was graduated from
Michigan State University.
For 13 years, she was asso-
ciated with the Thursday
Night Social Group at the
Jewish Community Center
(for retarded adults) and
has led numerous work-
shops for the retarded.
As JARC director of resi-
dential programs, Ms.
Medow supervises staff,
