The Best of Everything

THE
MYSTERY
MUNCHER
writes:
"Membership
in
Entertainment '79 expired
Nov. 1. Looks as though we
missed some interesting
places. Faycurry's
Troubadour in Dearborn
advertises steaks, prime
rib, seafood and Mideast
specialities plus live
entertainment.
"How about Vittorio's
Dinner Theatre in Livonia?
"We have tried Chicago
Road House in Dearborn
which specializes in steak.
The restaurant's Loop Room
is a quiet, romantic dining
spot with an atmosphere of
luxury.
"Thumbing through
the Entertainment book,
we found Wellington Pub
in Grosse- Pointe Farms.
Their motto is 'We
endeavor to bring you
• hearty repasts represen-
tative of notable public
houses of England.'
"Ben's Bull Pen in Lake
Orion sounds different. It's
billed as 'Michigan's most
sophisticated barn' in An-
tique Village specializing in
prime rib and crab legs.
"Chuck Mayne's in Troy
offers 'The Mayne Event' —
a choice of 13 entrees served
with salad, bread basket,
potato, rice pilaf or vegeta-
ble.
"There are a number of
far-away places with fas-
cinating sounding names in
the E-ntertainment book
just waiting for adventure-
some suburbanites to get off
the beaten track of close-
to-home supping and sip-
ping. The Country Innnin
the 'big _red house' in Utica
touts ribs and chicken and
private, romantic dining for
two.
"Adam Martini's in
Dearborn claims to serve
the finest to the finest —
gourmet dining in an ele-
gant atmosphere.
"Rochester's .5th Quarter
promises casual dining and
imbibing with fresh-caught
fish daily and a warm,
friendly atmosphere.
"Never on Sunday, closed
Tuesdays, is a Greek res-
taurant on St. Antoine in
Detroit. Although they're
open six-nights-a-week,
they advertise Greek belly
dancing seven-nights-a-
week which sounds intrigu-
ing. Never on Sunday?
"Do you remember Car-
son's on Woodward which
has been in business more
than a quarter-of-a-
century? The restaurant
still features gourmet din-
ing with. Australian lobster
tails, frog legs Provencale,
filet mignon with Colbert
sauce and flaming desserts.
Another incentive is
lighted, valet parking.
The Turtle Soup Inn
on Six Mile and Conant
specializes in spare ribs.
Wonder if this spot serves
turtle soup which is hard
to come by these days?
One of the best and snap-
piest turtle soups was
served at the old Frank

Gagen's, another favorite
of the past.
"Wayward Restaurant
and Lounge in Keego Har-
bor claims to have a 30-year
history of excellent home
cooking.
"Carmen's South dining-
cocktail and discotheque in
Riverview invites you to
join its dine and dance club
and offers big band sounds
every Tuesday.
"American-Lebanese
cuisine and nightly
entertainment was found at
Club 1001 Nights on Six
Mile in Detroit.
"Out Mt. Clemens way
is the Flying Machine
which ' has airplane
memorabilia and
entertainment.
"A late-night spot is
Dominic's Bel Cassino with
Italian and American food
on Mack Ave.
"London broil is the spe-
cialty of the house . . . the
Gate House, that is, in
Southgate. Entertainment
is added to the bill of fare.
"Still thumbing throught
the Entertainment book,
the song "Don't Get Around
Much Anymore" keeps
spinning around in our
brains.
"How -about Brew 'N
Kangaroo in Dearborn
which, among other
items, serves Lamjoon —
Armenian pizza.
"Then there's the Salt
Mine eatery and spirits on
Mack with Greek antipasto,
spinach salad and deep dish
pizza on - the menu and
entertainment on the side.
"Have you ever heard of
Rembrandt's Roaster, a new
restaurant on Larned across
from the Ren Cen?
"Charlies Creperie in St.
Clair Shores promises the
intelligent alternative to
fried foods — 'Eat right and
live longer.'
"And from the people
who claim to have intro-
duced the square pizza to
the Detroit area in 1946 is
Cloverleaf on Gratiot
which manufactures its
own pasta products.
"Maharajah Restaurant
on Eight Mile bills itself as
the oldest and best Indian
and Pakistani dining spot in
Michigan. Vegatarian
dinners are specialties.
"Hans Schnizelbank, not
surprisingly, offers German
cuisine and imported beer
in its Wyandotte restau-
rant.
"The Orient Inn in
Plymouth invites customers
to try more than 100 dishes
prepared in authentic
Chinese cuisine. If you want
Peking duck, you must give
24-hours notice.
"That's the end of the
mini-tour of restaurants
suburbanites may frequent
infrequently."

Robot Entertains

FUBAR — the futuristic
uranium bio-atomic robot
— will be at the Tel-12 Mall
today through Sunday for
four one-hour shows each
day.
