FROK sos-rom?
(Continued from Page 28) vocals and Tommy Ascott
NAME IS PAUL Don- offering vocal and humor-
nelly, not Bob as typo er-
rored recently . . . at Ben-
ny's in Oak Park.
New name of Benny's is
now Esquire Two ... Owner
Dave Rabin owns. Esquire
on Dexter and Leslie (phis
Northgate Deli).
STEVE WARD Jazz Trio
is 12-3 for Sunday Lunch at
Midtown Cafe in Downtown
Birmingham . . . Chef Gary
Grzwacz has a special each
week.
ALL-STARS Restaurant
on Opdyke Rd. becomes the
newest member of the Pon-
tiac business community
. . . open daily and
weekends. for lunch and
dinner.
ADD THE NAME of
Segrid Elward to your list of
very good waitresses . . .
She's the cute, smiling
most-efficient blond lassie
on the bar side evenings at
Carl's Chop House, Grand
River, where Segrid has
made so many friends for 10
years.
WHY ISN'T THERE a
law . . . against people clip-
ping their fingernails in a
restaurant?
THE BILLY ROSE _
Quintet is into its fifth year
at Vargo's, Six Mile bet-
weeri- Middlebelt and Inks-
ter . . . and soon on Monday
nights will be accompanied
by four more men.on three
trumpets and a trombone
for the big brass sound:
Popular fellows at Var-
go's now are . . . Billie Man-,
piano; Billy Kay, drums;
Rod Rose, vibes; Rudy Gol-
die, bass . . . and Billy Rose,.
lead guitar-vocalist.
LORI JACOBS is at Mr..
Mikes on Ford Rd. at Wayne
Rd: through March 4,

led "Everything's Jake" .. .
Later this Month she'll
come out with a single,
"That's What You Say." . . .
Lori's book, "Have You Ever
Felt Alone" is at bookstores.
RECENT PARTY open-
ing of Rib 'n Crab, W. Eight
Mile west of Evergreen, re-
vealed something about
Chef James Petrillo .. .
Many places have Rum*
as an hors d' oeuvre . . . but
few make it right . . . Jimmy
is one of those that properly
use water chestnuts.
Also given notice was the
fact that pleasant, efficient
busboy Keith O'Brien
brought our second coffee in
a clean cup.
The very intimate affair
was misnamed a "press
party" but everyone had a
good time anyway . . . with
Judy Alwood on organ and
ous renditions . . . Whatever
the reason, all received a
carnation, both men and
women.
Extra emphasis at Rib 'n
Crab is being put on good
service.
FOR THE THIRD time,
Hurley's in the Northfield
Hilton Inn, Crooks at 1-75,
Troy, will feature the musi-
cal group Seat through
March 3.
Band members are .. .
Wynn Kanten, Chris Alber,
Ray Goodman and Bill
Loveland ... with a large
repertoire of songs, plus in-
viting audiences to request
favorite tunes form the 40s,
50s, 60s and 70s . . . The
bulk of their -material is
Disco Top-40 but rock,
swing and jazz are also
given out.
