the day program partici-
pants avail themselves of
the van transportation
which makes stops mainly
in the Oak Park and South-
field areas in addition to
picking up individuals in
Farmington Hills and on
Votrobeck Drive.
Upon their arrival at
Borman Hall at about 9
a.m., day program partici-
pants are greeted by volun-
teers who manage the Nosh
Nook. This snack bar was
implemented in June 1977
by the auxiliary. Socializing
and conversing with these
dedicated workers starts
the day.
Thanks to the many vol-
unteers who run programs
during the course of the
week, the day program is
able to provide a diversified
range of activities for its
participants. These pro-
grams range from current
events discussions to crafts
and quilting sessions to
explorations of contempor-
ary Jewish issues and mod-
ern family living; they sup-
plement the activities
schedule devised by the ac-

fully integrated with the
overall program and
routine of the home.
Through this integration,
friendships between cur-
rent day program par-
ticipants and residents
that existed decades ago
are renewed and
strengthened. There are
occasional activities,
specifically designed for
the day program partici-
pants, such as outings to
the Jewish Community
Center for its annual
Book Fair and to Cong.
Beth Shalom for its re-
cent photographic dis-
play on Jewish immigra-
tion to the United States.
Day program director,
Evan Fishman, welcomes
inquiries. The program is
geared toward individuals
who can function indepen-
dently within a structured,
supportive setting which
