ROSE and IRVING GUTTMAN
Invite You To See Why
The Best of Everything
(Continued from Page 32)
in West Bloomfield, re-
ceived a call from a cus-
tomer requesting delivery
of one of its specialty pizzas,
a "Deep Dish Riviera."
Barrister Seymour
Weberman, one of the own-
ers, told the customer that
delivery was unavailable
that evening . . . However,
the customer insisted on or-
dering the pizza and said he
was sending a cab to pick it
up . . . Sure enough, a Novi
cab came to Rib Shack,
where the driver paid for
the pizza and delivered it to
13 Mile Rd.
PETER VEZINA, for-
merly chef at The Other
Place in Windsor, now
heads the kitchen at Tunnel
Bar-B-Q in Southfield.
PEOPLE WHO sit in
smoking areas at restau-
rants should not tell those
at other tables not to smoke
. . . It is their fault in the
first place for not requesting
the non-smoking area,
which all restaurants must
have as required by law .. .
These people have no right
whatsoever asking others
not to smoke.
THE NAME IS THE
same, but an altogether
different dining spot is Sul-
tan's Table on. Southfield
and 10 Mile . . . No longer is
it a strictly Mid-Eastern
restaurant . . . no more belly
dancing, either.
Its name will be changed
. . . but the transformation
has already taken place .. .
There is a full continental
menu now for lunch and
dinner . . . from chopped sir-
loin to steak to prime rib to
sea food galore, etc . . . even
Pile Of Bones (Prime Rib
Bones marinated in bar-b-q
sauce).
The dinner menu went
into effect last Monday .. .
and includes a 25-oz. Por-
terhouse Steak for $14.95
that two people can eat
without extra charge for the
second person.
Plus the regular menu,
a special Monday 'lighter
has eight fine items that
are better than seen on
most menus around ...
All are $5.75 and include
spaghetti or vegetable,
salad and hot bread.
About the salad . . . it is
better described as a salad
bar to make at your own
table . . . This is available
every night with all
dinners.
The new lunch, which
went into effect a couple of
weeks ago, includes a wide
variety . . . and all sand-
wiches are with made-at-
the-restaurant cottage fried
potatoes at no extra charge.
It even has home-made
soup, now.
The Sultan's Table fine
menus were put together by
new general manager Hank
Denatti, a restaurant gent
of wide note, and boss gent
Pete Jonna . . . There's a lit-
tle bit of everything for
everybody . . . French,
Greek, Australian, Mid-
eastern, Italian and Ameri-
can . . . with the kitchen
open til midnight on Friday
and Saturday and til 11 p.m.
during the week.
Vi
Campbell
is
downstairs at the piano,
Tuesday thru Saturday,
with dancing and frivolity
. . . Also downstairs from 4
to 7 is a Happy Hour time
with free hors d' oeuvres
and two-for-one drinks .. .
Across from this lower level,
another room is being
finished to accommodate
110 for private party
facilities.
The new Sultan's Table or
whatever it may be called,
could result in an interest-
ing addition to the North-
west area's culinary and fun
total.
DID YOU KNOW ...
that it takes about 30 min-
utes from the time you start
eating for your stomach to
notify your brain that
you've had enough? . . . So
devote 20 or 30 minutes to
each meal . . . If you give
yourself time to feel full,
you won't overeat.
RECENT INTRODUC-
TION of White King Sal-
mon was introduced in the
Detroit area at Joe Muer's
on Gratiot, where the show-
ing and tasting ceremonies
took place . . . Although Joe
doesn't like to use frozen
fish, he is including this on
his menu.
Fresh packed and shipped
frozen from Washington
State, the White King Sal-
mon actually begin their
lives as Red King Salmon in
the Pacific Ocean . . . When
they enter the fresh waters
of the Columbia River, near
Seattle, in search of their
spawning grounds, the
combination of changes in
water chemistry and tem-
perature cause the fish to
lose their familiar bright
red coloration and become
an off-white color, which
further lightens upon cook-
