Dinstein Urges
Strong Business
Tie With U.S.

WASHINGTON (JTA) —
Zvi Dinstein, economic
minister of Israel to the
Western Hemisphere,
called on the State of Israel
Bond Organization to "com-
plete the tremendous work
you have done in the eco-
nomic development of Israel
by strengthening mutual
relations between the Is-
raeli and American busi-
ness communities."
Addressing the 1978 Fall
International Leadership
-Conference of Israel Bonds
t the Washington Hilton
riotel, he declared that a
solid relationship between
American and Israeli busi-
ness would be the instru-
ment that finally estab-.
lishes Israel economic inde-
pendence.
In his address, Dinstein
said: "Israel exports, includ-
ing goods and services, will
reach $7 billion this year as
against $5.75 billion in
1977," he observed and
growth is still spiraling.
The growth rate for exports
in the first eight months of
this year is 25 percent more
than it was at the same time
last year, he said.

Wrestling Rabbi
Prints Jewish
Scholars Atlas

TEL AVIV (JTA) —Rab-
bis, heads of yeshivot and
religious scholars are hail-
ing an unusual event, the
publication of an atlas that
includes 2,091 names igf
Jewi§h scholars during to
600 years that ended with
the expulsion of Jews from
Spain.
The atlas also includes 70
maps that show the centers
of Jewish learning through
the 600 years, and indicates
the line of relaying the
Torah from father too son
and from teacher to disciple.
What makes the event
unusual is that the author
is none other than Rabbi
Raphael Halperin, who
was. once known
worrdwide as Mr. Israel,
the wrestler who held the
world championship title
in the freestyle wrestling
division.
Halperin was also in-
volved in busiriessactivities
but sold all his business
holdings and returned to
rabbinic studies at the Bnei
Brak Yeshiva. The atlas
was the result of his studies.

8 Day Schools
pen in U.S.

NEW YORK — Eight
new Hebrew Day Schools,
including one at the high
school level, opened in the
U.S. this month. According
to a report issued at the
start of the new school year
by Torah Umesorah, the
eight new schools bring the
total number, of Hebrew
Day Schools in the United
States to 463 with an addi-
tional 53 in Canada.
It is expected that the
enrollment this year in
North America will reach a
total of about 93,000 stu-
dents of which about 11,000
are Canadian Hebrew Day
School students.
