A former Detroiter who
held pulpits from 1937 to
1956, Rabbi Ittamar was
general secretary of the
Israel chief rabbinate
and vice chairman of the
Harry Fischel Institute
since his retirement.
The institute, founded by
the late Chief Rabbi Ab-
raham Isaac Kook in 1932,
has 90 fellows doing re-
search in Talmud and on Is-
rael, training for the rabbi-
nate and Israel chaplaincy
and the rabbinic courts. A
new department will be
launched this year dealing
wiht automation as it af-
fects Sabbath observance
and similar problems.

Peace" will be discussed by
Leonard J.J. Davis at the
Detroit District — Zionist
Organization of America
meeting scheduled for 7:45
p.m. Tuesday at the Zionist
Cultural Center.
Davis is director of infor-
mation for the American Is-
rael Public Affairs Commit-
tee (AIPAC) and is on the
editorial staff of the "Near
East Report" as well as co-
author of "Myths and Facts -
1978." Previously he was a
New York Times corre-
spondent.
Louis Panush will be
chairman of the program.
Refreshments will be
served. The public is in-
