DID YOU KNOW . .
from Food For Thought by
Consumers For Pure Food
. . . That a piece of gauze
saturated with white vin-
egar, when applied to an in-
sect sting or mosquito bite,
relieves itching and swel-
ling within 80 minutes?
. . . That it fakes about 30
minutes from the time you
start eating for your
stomach to notify your brain
that you've had enough?
. . . So devote 20 or 30 min-
utes to each meal . . . If you
give yourself time to feel
full, you won't over-eat.
That cracked mouth cor-
ners are often a symptom of
a riboflavin (vitamin
B-complex) deficiency? . . .
To treat this disorder, in-
crease the amount of leafy
vegetables, whole grains,
skim milk, dairy products,
lean meat and eggs in your
diet . B-complex sup-
plements are also available
. Treat the problem
quickly or it may affect your
digestive system, skin and
eye health and resistance to
disease.
That grapefruit peels con-
tain a natural skin softener
that's ideal for soothing
chapped elbows. After
breakfast, put your elbows
in the scooped out
grapefruit halves and leave
them there while you read
the newspaper . . . This
will ease chapping and help
whiten rough, red elbows.
