Club Israel Bond Breakfast
Committee members are

Grande, Dr. L. Goldsmith
and Lewis Storm. Actively
participating in the event
will be the Grand Rapids Is-
rael Bond Committee,
chaired by Arthur Silvers-
tein and Jerry Subar. Other
Israel Bond Committee

York, a lawyer and
businessman who has
held posts with the
American Zionist Move-
ment and is a member of
the advisory cabinet of
Bnai Brith's Metropoli-
tan Council Israel Com-
mittee. -
Honoree Abe Drasin was
born in Grand Rapids.
President of Wolverine
Hide Corp., in 1968 he liq-
uidated his business and
taught government for
three years at Creston High
School. He was appointed to
the City Commission in
March 1971, gave up his
teething career, and since
that time has devoted full
time to city government.
In November 1975 he was
elected mayor for a four-
year term.

Mayor Drasin is the foun-
der and president of the Na-
tional Hide Association; a
Federal appointee to the
U.S. National Defense
Executive Reserve; a
member of Grand Rapids
Community Relations
Commission and the boards
of directors, University of
Michigan Hillel Foundation
and the Grand Rapids
Urban League. He is chair-
man, National Council of
the Joint Defense Appeal
and chairman, Grand
Rapids Fair Employment
Practices Committee. He is
also a board member of the
World Affairs Council of
Grand Rapids and the Kent
