GOURMET ALTENBURG
AT THE PIANO BAR
COOKING
TUES. THRU SAT.

. . . The kindness, consid-
eration and patience shown
us cannot fully be expressed
in words. We were , not in
any way for one moment
made to feel like we were
given a handout to a poor
relative. Starting at the be-
ginning of the line til going
out we were greeted with a
smile and a thank you. We
are very grateful to the of-
fice staff of the Federation
Apartments for the orderly
manner, assistance and at-
tention from the very be-
ginning to the very end.
Helping us in and out of the
bus, making sure we are all
safely inside the building."
. . . Goldie Citrin
RONNIE PHILLIPS is
at Jakks' piano bar Mon-
days, Greenfield and 10
Mile . . . with Arlene King
also there doing her usual
fine job on the vocals.-
SULTAN's TABLE has
been open just a short while
on Southfield, north of 10
Mile . . . without any fan-
fare, advertising or public-
ity . . . but people have made
this Chaldean restaurant a
discovery to share with
others.
The former King's Arms
and Landing underwent a
complete transformation
and features pleasant decor
tones.
We can't tell you much
yet about the Sultan's Table
food, except for a few tastes
that we had which, inci-
dently, were delicious . . .
and also somewhat unlike
the ordinary Middle East
fare.
THANKS . . . to Mary
Conway and Harry Satch-
well, authors of "Meet, Eat
& Enjoy Greater Detroit"
for filling in so very capably
during our vacation . . .
and to Jackie Kalien for her
usual fine column.

. . too bad the unbelieva-
ble is in Florida and not
here . . . Place is called
Chief Charley's, from who
restauranteurs can take a
big lesson ... We went to the
one in Clearwater, but
there's another in Dunedin
with Seminole due for a
September opening.
Place seats over 500 for
steaks and seafood at hardly
believable low prices
The salad bar (there are
four of them around the
place) has over 30 items
. . . all fresh . . . and our
fine waitress, Phyllis
Flynn, says there is always
a long waiting line-, but
talks don't have to wait long
because of the very fast tur-
nover . . . (Don't know how
the owner does it, but four of
us waited only five minutes
. . . Wonder why large
places here like Joe Muer's
can't get their line going
faster?)
MAIL DEPT.. . "Club
Berkley's food is just as good
as you said it was. The steak
is super, the frog legs out of

potatoes super, the service

days. Even the salad is de-
licious. Only thing missing
is a relish tray -- like that
Grand River restaurant (no
name please). In the mood
for some dessert, the choco-
late parfait was yummy.
Hope to go again soon.

IT'S "MAGIC" at Top of
the Pontch on 25th floor of
Hotel Pontchartrain in
downtown Detroit . . .
That's the name of the five-
piece group performing
Tuesdays through Satur-
days from 7:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Magic members include a
husband and wife team,
Rick and Sue Kerr, plus
Peter Bleakney, Rick Davis
and Steve Rouse.
"HERE LIES Jeremy
Troy," a very funny comer'77
. . . and the 10th Pierre
Turgeon and Jimmy Launce
production, is every Friday
and Saturday at Somerset
Dinner Theater, located in
the lower level of Somerset
Mall . . . The buffet by
Alfred's Restaurant begins
at 7:30 p.m., showtime is
8:45 p.m.
JAROKA SANDOR and
his gypsies from Budapest
provide music at the
newly-owned Hungarian
Village on Springwells . . .
Jaroka is there Tuesday
through Sunday to go with
the authentic Hungarian
dishes.
THE LOVING CUP is
having one of its more in-
spired bookings . . .
through Feb. 18 at Mr. C's
in Naples, Florida . . . The
group returns to reality,
opening Feb. 21 at Ernie
Polombo's Monk's Cellar, 12
Mile and Orchard Lake Rd.

"There is a Greek restaur-
ant in the Southfield area I
would like to bring to your
attention. Namely, Athe-
nian Cuisine, on Southfield
Road and 10 Mile Road. It is
located where the Purple
Pickle used to be.
"Let us say that no one
need travel to Greek Town
for Greek food any longer.
