The music was continuous
... the fun never ending ...
and the only complaint we
heard was of having to park
your own car.
•Tom and Diane Schoenith
are a couple of real swell
people ... and they sure
know how to throw a swing-
ing party!
JOSH WHITE, JR., sing-
er, guitarist and comedian,
is at the Raven, Greenfield
and 12 Mile, Wednesday to
Sunday, through Jan. 22 ...
Reservations are suggested
for all performances.
NOW THAT THE min-
imum wage increase is in
effect ... and food prices
have gone up ... don't be
surprised when seeing in-
creases on menus at restau-
rants.
These are trying times for
true restaurateurs who want
to keep prices down but
can't without sacrificing
quality ... Give medals to
those restaurant folks who
are biting the bullet and
absorbing costs so they can
keep their customers satis-
fied.
In fact ... they deserve a
medal just for being in the
restaurant business today.
MAIL DEPT. ... "We
would like to say Thank You
to all our customers who
were so nice to us during
the holidays and the entire
past year. ... Colleen Rein-
bolt and Margo Thompson
of Irving's Delicatessen.
AFTER TWO YEARS of
hard struggle, Betty Siegel
and her El Jardin Mexican
restaurant on W. Seven
Mile, west of Livernois, has
finally received a liquor li-
cense.... which should make
a big difference ... For the
present, Betty is only selling
draft beer, white wine and
Tequila cocktails.
DID YOU KNOW ... there
are restaurants that use cof-
fee grounds over again? ..
It's true at some small
places who add a little fresh
grounds and have the water
go through twice ... some
coffee drinkers can't tell the
difference.
THANKS ... to Lou Sarko
of Arrow Wrecking for what
we think is a great restau-
rant cigar ... vanilla odor
very inoffensive ... In fact,
many of those diners who
shudder when someone
pulls out a stogie, stay to
take in the verb pleasant
aroma.
NEW LOOK, new image,
new menu greets the Food
and Beverage Co. on site of
former namesake. Mama
Zelda's ... Southfield and
121/2 Mile.
Partition in center sepa-
rates large room into four
areas now ... with One side
on hinges to open into a
semi-private banquet area
... No more open-door kitch-
en ... Wood paneling on
walls have taken the place
of pictures that used to hang
... The diversified menu is
extensive now ... with an
emphasis on quality food at
moderate prices ... Beer,
wine and cocktails are serv-
ed at tables only ... there is
no bar.
TIP TO waitresses and
waiters ... When guests are
seated, approach the table
. introduce yourself and
say, "My name is so-and-so
and I am pleased to serve
you. - ... or whatever means
of introduction may be most
comfortable ... Introducing
yourself to your guests will
establish a relationship and
if the need arises, facilitates
their ability to identify you.
ASKED WHETHER he
had reached any of his boy-
hood hopes; former restau-
rant and lounge owner Jack
Freedman replied, "I sure
have. When my mother used
to comb my hair, I often
wished I didn't have any. -
