Israel Bond Cash Drive Reaches Half-Way Mark
Detroit's State of Israel
Bond end-of-the-year cash
collection drive has reached
the half-way mark toward a
$2 million goal, according to
Dr. Maxwell Hoffman cash
collection chairman.
"With almost $1 million in
outstanding and new Israel
Bond commitments now
converted into cash vital to
Israel's economic growth, I
feel the response of our
community has been most
gratifying and as we swing
into the final weeks of 1977
we must not lose this im-
petus. Israel cannot afford
to have us neglect even the
smallest bond commitment,
as she strives to revitalize
her economy." Calling
upon all Israel Bond in-
vestors and volunteers to
join the cash drive, Hoff-
man cited the congregations
of Adat Shalom, Beth Ach-
im, and Beth Abraham Hill-
el Moses. which this week
stepped up efforts toward
cash collection of bond com-
mitments made during 1977
congregational Israel Bond
dinners and High Holy Day
appeals.
Also participating in the
drive this week were volun-
teer callers from Alpha
Omega Dental Fraternity

teers, by telephone from Je-
rusalem at a special brunch
scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at
the main Jewish Commu-
nity Center.
"This event will also be
an excellent opportunity for
those who have not yet paid
and members of the Israel
Bond women's division, who
held a "calling for cash"
day at the Bond office,
headed • by Tillie Martin,
women's division cash col-
lection chairman.
Those keeping the lines
busy for Israel included vol-
unteer callers Doreen Her-
melin, Pearl Nosan, Anne
Parzen, Anne Silver, Rosa
Schaumberg, Lola Pines,
Celia Schwartz, Irma
Katchke, Ann Helfman, Lil-
liam Kaufman and Richard.
Williams.
The target date of the
cash collection effort will be
Dec. 18, when Israel's
Prime Minister Menahein
Begin will address Israel
Bond purchasers and volun-
for their Bonds to present
their checks and share an
historic moment," said
Hoffman.
There is no charge. For
brunch reservations, call
the Israel Bond office, 968-
0200.
