TEL AVIV (JTA)—Israel
lodged its fourth complaint
in recent weeks over Egyp-
tian violations of the Sinai
interim agreements. The
complains. like the previous
ones. was based on findings
of United Nations truce ob-
servers who inspected the
limited forces zone on June
14-15.
Their report indicated
that the Egyptians still
have two regiments in
excess of the eight permit-
ted and that the number of
soldiers exceed the 8.000
limit. The Egyptians have
also deployed SAM-7
ground-to-air missiles along
the west bank of the Suez
Canal where such weapons
are excluded under the in-
terim agreement.
, Michigan's estimated pop-
' ulation is 9,098,000, accord-
ing to the U.S. census.

Homemade Hallo
BY NORMA BARACH
(Copyright 1977, JTA, Inc.)
The Women's Orthodox
League of Detroit has put
out an excellent cookbook
with an especially good sec-
tion on yeast doughs. It is
called "From a Kosher Pan-
try With Our Love" and is
available at $5.50 a copy
from Mrs. G. Gelberman,
15970 Jeanette, Southfield,
Mich., 48075. Following is a
halla recipe from the book
'which I found to be excel-
lent:
10 cups flour
3 pkgs. dry yeast
5 tsps. salt
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup oil
3 eggs (beaten)
3 cups hot water
1/2 cup warm water
Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup
warm water. Set aside to al-
low to rise. In large bowl mix
together 3 cups hot water,
salt, sugar and oil. Let stand
to cool off a little. When water
mixture is slightly cooled off,
add yeast, eggs and 5 cups
flour. Mix by hand or in mixer
until smooth. Add flour gradu-
ally until well kneaded into
dough. Sprinkle top with flour,
cover and let rise until twice in
size about one hour.
Turn out on a well floured
board and work in desired
shape and size of halla. Place
in well-greased pans and al-
low to rise one hour longer.
Brush top with egg and
sprinkle with poppy seeds, if
desired.
Bake at 250 degrees for 10
minutes, raise to 300 degrees
for another 10 minutes, and
finish baking at 350 degrees
for remaining hour or until fin-
ished. (If you make smaller
hallas, you bake it less time.)
